Message from the Acting Principal

P&C Appreciation Day/Walk to School Day

On Friday we acknowledged and celebrated P & C Day which coincided with Walk to School Day. The Walk to School campaign was supported by the Town of Cambridge who contributed $200 towards a light breakfast organised by the P&C for the children. The P & C are the life blood of a school community, they are the important community arm of the school. Yes, P & C provide funds through fundraising, but they are much more. They provide opportunities for the school community to come together under a common ‘WHY’, a wonderful learning environment for children. Kapinara has a strong and energetic P & C that has, since the opening of the school, given generously in time, energy, and resources. The school and its staff are very grateful for its ongoing support.

The Year 1 and 3 students had made sunflowers with an endearing message in them to give to the P & C Executive Team to thank them for their contribution to our school. At the assembly, we also said thank you to Penny Henley and Kate Marquis for their long-standing service in many roles. The Year 6 students wrote a card to Penny and Kate and a dwarf lemon tree was donated to the school in honour of their service.

Sick Children

The winter illness season have arrived! Unfortunately we have had a record number of students absent yesterday and today due to illness and a large number of staff also. Please keep your child/ren at home if they are showing symptoms of cold and flu, not only for their benefit but for the wellness of others. The current cold/flu appears to be highly contagious and we would be very grateful if you could help stop the spread if your child is unwell. Reinforcing hand hygiene at home, as we will be doing at school, would also be helpful. Thank you.

School Board Elections

We would like to congratulate Gavin Bennett and Suzie Richards for being elected to the School Board. Both of our new Board members have a wealth of experience in a range of areas and will be positive additions to the Board.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Board Members Kate Bardill and Naomi Taylor. Both have made an extraordinary contribution to progressing the Board and the school. They have worked tirelessly to improve the standing of the school and have been instrumental in many improvements in the school and ensuring the strong community feel of our school is kept at the fore. We are very grateful for their contribution and support.
