Kapinara Primary School has three school factions that help build a strong sense of community, belonging, and school spirit while encouraging participation in intra-school sporting events and activities. Students are placed into one of the following factions, each named after a prominent Western Australian Olympian:
Elliott(Blue)
Named after Herb Elliott, Olympic gold medallist in the 1500m at the 1960 Rome Olympics, and one of the first athletes to break the four-minute mile barrier.
Strickland(Green)
Named after Shirley de la Hunty (née Strickland), one of Australia’s most successful Olympians, with seven Olympic medals including multiple gold medals in hurdles and relay events.
Winter(Red)
Named after John Winter, Olympic gold medallist in the high jump at the 1948 London Olympics.
Students may choose to wear their faction shirt on Fridays. This is optional, and regular school uniform shirts may also be worn.
