Compass is the school’s main platform for communication and school management. It is used by over 2,000 schools across Australia and has been introduced by the WA Department of Education to streamline communication and provide families with a simple and convenient way to access school information.

The Compass Parent Portal provides access to real-time updates and important school information. Through the app or portal, families can:

  • Notify the school of student absences
  • Receive school news, notices and announcements
  • Provide consent for excursions and incursions
  • View school calendars and important dates

  • Access student attendance information
  • Access Student Reports

Attendance Information

Compass SMS to tell you if your child is away from school each day.

If your child is absent and the school has not received a notification, you will receive an SMS from Compass. This message will ask you to provide a reason for your child’s absence and includes a secure, one-time link to submit an attendance note.

The link provided in the SMS is safe and part of the school’s official Compass system.

This process is currently used for unexplained absences identified after the morning roll call.

  1. Click the link in the Compass SMS
  2. The Compass webpage opens in your browser
  3. Choose a reason for the absence from the drop-down menu
  4. Type extradetails or comments in the box below.
  5. Make sure your message is at least 10 characters long.
  6. Submit the form.

If your message is less than 10 characters, the note will not be sent to the school.
