At Kapinara Primary School, we provide a cohesive and engaging learning journey across Junior Primary, Middle Primary, and Upper Primary, grounded by the Western Australian Curriculum. We are committed to supporting every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and strong wellbeing support.
Junior Primary
In Junior Primary, we focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching, play-based learning, and rich, hands-on experiences that foster curiosity and engagement. Students are supported to develop independence, resilience, and a love of learning within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
Middle Primary
In Middle Primary, students are extended through increasingly complex learning experiences that promote critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and deeper understanding across all learning areas. Teaching is differentiated to meet individual needs, ensuring every learner is both challenged and supported to achieve success. A continued focus on strengthening literacy and numeracy foundations is complemented by intentional development of social and emotional skills, including navigating friendships, building resilience, and developing positive self-management strategies.
Upper Primary
In Upper Primary, students are empowered to take greater ownership of their learning as they prepare for secondary school. There is a strong emphasis on academic achievement, student voice, and leadership development. Leadership opportunities are embedded across school life, enabling students to develop responsibility, initiative, and the ability to positively contribute to their school community. Students are supported to develop a strong sense of identity, recognising their strengths and areas for growth. Wellbeing remains a priority, with continued focus on building self-esteem, maintaining positive relationships, and managing friendships effectively.
Across all year levels, we maintain a strong focus on evidence-based, high-impact teaching practices, wellbeing, and the development of respectful, inclusive relationships. Our goal is to nurture confident, capable, and compassionate learners who are prepared for lifelong learning and active engagement in their local and global communities.
