Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope most of our families are keeping well.

COVID-19

Thank you to those of you who have checked unwell children for COVID. Fortunately, we appear to only have a small number who have tested positive over the last couple of weeks. This week we have been advised of about six.

If your child is unwell, please keep him/her at home. If a child shows signs of illness consistent with COVID-19 (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough, fatigue, headache, diarrhoea or vomiting) please use a RAT to check for evidence of COVID. The state government is sending us another large delivery of nasal RATs to be distributed to families. We have been asked to distribute 10 for each child enrolled at school. We have an existing store of RATS, so please begin to collect them from the office as soon as you are ready.

The Chief Health Officer has advised that anyone with a positive RAT result should stay home for at least five (5) days and until symptoms have resolved. Positive RAT results should be registered online. For the time being, if you are informing us that your child is unwell, could you please indicate whether a RAT has been positive or negative. This will enable us to monitor the prevalence of COVID within our school community at any given time. Thanks for your support in this regard. Please see the attached letter from the Chief Health Officer.

Keeping Students Safe

Please be reminded of the following measures in place to keep children safe:

Firstly, children waiting to be collected by adults arriving by car should be waiting outside on the front office so they are supervised at all times. Children should not be waiting at the upper playground. While there are often families playing there, this is not always the case. Children (particularly younger children) should also not be playing there unsupervised after school. There have been several occasions when a child has been hurt, upset and/or alone. While this is a relatively safe neighbourhood, children waiting on their own can still find unknown adults, older students, including secondary students, and dogs intimidating. Please remind your child to wait outside the front office.

Secondly, please avoid reversing in and out of neighbour’s driveways and our school carparks to change direction. We also ask that cars travel in an anticlockwise direction around the school perimeter at pick-up and drop-off times.

Harmony Day – Cultural Dance Incursion

Happy Harmony Day! School was a sea of orange today and at the end of the day students, friends and family came together to celebrate cultural diversity through dance.

A big thanks to Footsteps for spending the day with us, teaching our PP-6 students cultural dances from all around the world. They certainly enjoyed it and the dances were fabulous! Thanks also for everyone getting into the spirit of Harmony Day and dressing in orange, a big change from our blue and gold colours!

School Visitors

A reminder to parents who arrive on school grounds for a variety of reasons: please call through the office so that you can sign in if appropriate or simply so that we are aware that you are on the premises in the case of an emergency.
