Bright Future STEM Program

Wednesday 7 March our Year 5&6 students were invited to participate in the Bright Future STEM program.
The program aims to raise students’ awareness of the diverse career opportunities made available through the study of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA) has developed this program due to
a decline in these areas of study, despite a forecasted growth in demand for these skills for the
future workforce.
This unique national program provides students with the opportunity to engage with industry
STEM professionals, learn about diverse and rewarding careers and participate in hands-on,
interactive STEM-based activities.
Students explored different activities including Snap Circuits, Turing Tumbles, Meet Edison, VR’s, Dr Eureka, and Gravitrax. An exciting, educational day for our students!

Faction Swimming Carnival
Our 2023 Swimming Faction Carnival was a great start to the year’s sporting events. Students performed with outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit representing their factions. It was great to see so many students with a great attitude, giving lots of events a try. Many students did so well that they surprised themselves, which shows great confidence and a willingness to try new things. Included in this years’ carnival were the novelty events which was a fun way to end the event.
This year participation points were awarded to everyone who participated in an event, which really helped the school spirit and encouraged students of all abilities to challenge themselves.
This years’ overall winning faction was Elliot. Winter was a close second and Strickland placed third.
Congratulations to our champions and runners-ups. We will have an assembly next week to acknowledge their great sportsmanship and best overall performances for the day.
A big thank you to all the parents who came to support, those who helped out on the day, and those who volunteered their time to coach at Swim Squad.
Well done to all the students who have trained hard at our school swim squad and other swim squads to improve their performance. Kapinara’s swim squad will continue until Week 9, in preparation for the interschool carnival the following Wednesday, 5 April 2023.
