Remembrance Day
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year is recognised as Remembrance Day. This marks the anniversary of the armistice in 1918, when the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years continuous warfare. Each year Australians observe one minute silence at 11am on November 11th, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. A red poppy has become symbolic of Remembrance Day.
The Kapinara community has always assisted Rotary and the RSL to support the welfare of War veterans and their dependents, and this year we will be again be selling Red Poppies, to raise funds for this commendable cause.
Yr 4/5s will be selling red poppies, for a gold coin donation, outside the instrumental room before and after school until Friday 11 November. We thank you for your support of Remembrance Day.
A short Remembrance Day Service will be held on Friday 11th November, at 10.45am in the Undercover area. Parents are welcome.
Mrs Kylie Powell
Triathlon Report
The SSWA Primary Schools Triathlon Championship has once again been a huge success for our students at Kapinara.
For many of them, taking part in the Triathlon (swim, bike, run) and the Aquathlon (run, swim, run) was their first experience of a multisport event. Our students accepted the challenge of stepping out of their comfort zones and trying something new.
They gave it their all, producing some outstanding performances both individually and in their teams. The ‘Girls Only’ category was won by Bianca B, Alice P, and Meg W.
The following girls also won individual medals in the Aquathlon.
Meg W Silver girls 12yrs
Hope M bronze girls 12yrs
Billie M Silver girls 10yrs.
The whole team were supportive of each other and displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event.
We would like to thank all the parent helpers who gave their time to help out on the day.
Thanks also to the Duncraig Senior High School Triathlon Program who once again supplied our A-grade competitors with road bikes to both train on and race on the day.
Ms Burrows.
St Vincent De Paul’s Christmas Hamper Appeal
It’s that time of the year again when we ask you to put one or two extra items in your trolley and bring them to school so that they can be put into making Christmas Hampers for those less fortunate than ourselves.
If you are able and would like to make a donation to this worthy cause, the Year Three classes will be collecting your donations from your child’s classroom each day for the next three weeks.
The St Vincent De Paul Society suggests the following items.
- Christmas Cakes / Plum Puddings
- Mince Pies
- Long Life Custard
- Jelly
- Tinned Fruit
- Cordial / Juice
- Potato Chips / Crackers
- Sweets / Lollies / Biscuits
- Tinned Peas / Corn / Beetroot
- Tinned ham / Tuna / Salmon
- Christmas decorations
The final date for donating items will be 1st December 2022.
Thank you very much in anticipation. Let’s see if we can achieve enough items to make 30 hampers this year!

Book Fair
Thank you to everyone for getting into the spirit of our Book Fair last week. In addition to putting more books into eager hands, we also received a large credit with Scholastic for Mrs Moore to purchase some more great books for our library. A special thank you is also extended to families who donated a book to the school library. Thank you to Joanne Moore, who at Book Fair time runs between Kapinara and the other school at which she works. We are also grateful to parents Tash B, Rhonda P, Fee W, Joyce L who processed all those book orders and Kirsten P for organising our helpers. Thank you!
Choir Uniforms
What a wonderful year of Choir we have had! I have thoroughly enjoyed leading your children this year..but alas, the year is coming to an end. However we have one more special performance for the End of Year Concert!
The children will not need their choir uniforms for the remainder of the year as they will be singing in their costumes for their final choir performance. (Costume information note has been sent today)
If you borrowed a choir uniform this year, could you please kindly wash it and return it (named) to the box in the front office.
Kindest, Sarina Davy
Passtab sign out/SMS Messaging
Passtab has been very instrumental in ensuring our attendance data is accurate. Could we please ask that parents remember to enter the reason for the sign in/sign out as this is copied directly into our attendance system. Thank you.
Currently our SMS Messaging service is set to send texts to both parents/carers. If this is unnecessary and you prefer it to be sent to one parent only, please let the office know and we can alter this for you.
