Kapinara P&C News 4.2.22

Hello Kapinara Families, old and new, and welcome to the 2022 school year!

On behalf of the P&C we’d like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new families, from those in Kindy all the way through to year 6. We’re looking forward to getting to know as many of you as possible, and hope to meet you in person very soon. To our returning families, we welcome you back just as warmly ?

(For those families who are no longer at Kapinara, and for anyone who is receiving this email multiple times – thank you for your patience as we finalise the P&C’s 2022 email database. Feel free to send us a reminder if you need to be removed from this list, or if your email details need amending/updating.)

As 2022 looks set to be a year with many late-breaking changes in health and safety requirements, we encourage you to follow the P&C’s Facebook page @KapinaraPandC for the latest updates, as well as the WhatsApp/closed Facebook groups run by each year group’s class reps as a means of sharing information as efficiently as possible. Critical information regarding the Canteen and Uniform Shop will also be shared via the School’s newsfeed on the main Kapinara website.

Kapinara Welcome Sundowner 2022 Event – Friday 18 February

Save the date for the annual Kapinara welcome Sundowner event on FRIDAY 18 FEBRUARY from 5-9pm. This is a great opportunity for new families to get to know the Kapinara community at this Covid-safe event – BYO, picnic on the oval in the open air, and enjoy a great evening out for all ages!  The band has been booked, glow products are ready and food options are being finalised – stay tuned for booking information next week. This event is being planned with full adherence to Covid-safe protocols and requirements.

P&C Meetings – Date for Your Diary

The P&C’s Annual General Meeting will take place next TUESDAY 8 FEBRUARY at 7pm in the Library. All P&C elected positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) will be vacant, as well as opportunities to join the P&C Executive Committee and other function-based committees (communications, events, finance, fundraising, grounds/vegetable patch). An online link will be made available for this meeting and all future P&C meetings in 2022 to ensure that the committee can continue to meet and support the school throughout 2022.

Any and all members of the Kapinara community are welcome to join us and your support is greatly appreciated – you don’t need to be a member to attend, only to vote or run for office, and membership costs just $1. Participation in the P&C is a great way to support the school’s support for our kids through fundraising and community-building, to meet other parents and teachers from outside your class group, and more.

The first regular meeting of the P&C for 2021 will take place on TUESDAY 15 FEBRUARY at 7pm (week 3), in person in the staffroom as well as online; and in weeks 3 and 7 of each term throughout the year.

Canteen Resumes Week 2 – **new days Wednesday and Thursday**

The canteen will open from week 2 onwards (starting WEDNESDAY 9 FEBRUARY), providing recess and lunch options every Wednesday and Thursday unless otherwise advised. Canteen ordering will continue to take place through QuickCliq – please login to your account to update your child’s class/teacher details for 2022, or register to create a QuickCliq account if 2022 is your first year using the canteen – www.quickcliq.com.au

We are still finalising our volunteer requirements for the coming term as we look to balance our ability to provide a consistent and Covid-safe service with our core (paid) canteen staff, with the desire to provide as full a menu as possible via volunteers. As you may know, our canteen relies on volunteers to operate at full capacity. If we face restrictions in the way we can use volunteers, we may need to either reduce menu options, or potentially close on selected days.

Any volunteers who assist in the canteen will be required to show proof of full vaccination at the time of volunteering, and follow the strictest hygiene measures (face masks, gloves/hand-washing, and sanitising before and during their shift). Our paid canteen staff are subject to the same rules that the Department of Education requires of teaching staff (proof of full vaccination required), and have undertaken the latest food-hygiene training required by the Town of Cambridge. No staff or volunteers will be allowed to work if they are ill with Covid-19 or any other virus, or have been subject to isolation requirements following exposure or are a close contact of someone who has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Canteen volunteers can work either half shifts from 8.45am-10.45am or 10.45-1pm, or a full shift 8.45-1pm. Parents volunteering for a half shift receive a free recess for their child/ren, and those volunteering for a full shift from 8:45am-1pm receive a free lunch for their child/ren. Our volunteer sign-up will be available soon!

Uniform Shop open Tuesday mornings 8:30-9am + online ordering

For 2022, the Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday mornings from 8:30-9am for in-person purchases, as well as online 24/7. We are aiming to have the Uniform Shop fully operational in Qkr before the end of term 1, but in the meantime online orders can be placed by the downloading the form from https://bit.ly/3cRaq1T and emailing your order to kapinara.uniform@gmail.com Orders will be packed by our volunteers and sent home with students via classroom teachers by the end of the week wherever possible. You can send queries to the same email address if you have any queries, and our uniform shop managers will be happy to help however they can.

Parent Reps

Parent representatives are a critical part of helping the P&C communicate across the parent body, which in turn helps the school run smoothly. We’ll be sending a separate email with details about how you might be able to help. In the meantime, if you are interested in continuing as a parent rep from last year, or taking on the role for the first time, please email anke@woodlands.id.au
