Canteen

Lately there have been several children who thought orders had been placed but who did not have orders on the system. Could families please be aware that if you do not receive a confirmation email for the child’s order then it has not gone through. Sometimes the ‘add item’ and ‘pay and place order’ buttons have been missed. Please check for the email to ensure your child’s order will be received. Thank you.

We are requiring one volunteer for the late shift this Thursday 22/8 please?

PP2 are scheduled for next week’s canteen and are struggling to fill their shifts. The canteen at this stage cannot operate next week as we have only 1 shift filled for Tuesday and 2 shifts filled for Thursday. Please remember that canteen shifts are from 8:45-10:45am and from 10:45am-1:00pm. Parents will receive a free recess for their child(ren) if they work 1 shift or a free lunch for their child(ren) if they work 2 shifts (ie, from 8.45am-1.00pm).

Quiz night

13 of the 20 tables have already been sold! Make sure you organise your table and join in for a fantastic night of games, silent auction, quiz questions and fun. Fundraising is for the redevelopment of the lower oval playground AKA ‘the wobbly’. Ideas for the redevelopment are focused on nature-based playgrounds, and we need lots of support to have the necessary funds for this project. A reminder that tickets are $25 per head, with tables of 8 people ($200) to be purchased (Remember if unable to secure 8 let us know and we can find others in the same situation). Uniform shop update 
Cotton only polo shirts- Cotton School Polo shirts will be available to families who would like this option Via ORDER ONLY at $32 each. There is a minimum order limit that needs to be reached for this option to go ahead. Please contact kapinara.uniform@gmail.com with, please provide sizes and quantity required. Last orders for this round is by 13th September.

Get into the team spirit, and look great in a new faction top. We have all sizes and factions available.
Hair Scrunchies
School hair scrunchies are now available at the Uniform shop. In school and faction colours at $4 each.
Second hand stock
We always have a moving range of second hand stock. Come have a look for something to help reuse and recycling. We are happy to receive all outgrown uniforms to add to this double good cause as all funds go towards the P&C for the school.

The WACA is hosting an All Girls Can Carnival Day on Sunday 25th August 11-3pm. It is a free event with hip hop, silent disco, yoga, cricket
activities and the Perth Scorchers meeting the girls. Boys welcome too.

Walk for Hirschsprungs Disease

Sunday 15th September 8-12 noon. The walk starts at Bold Park 9am, ending at Kings Park Synergy Playland with a barbecue starting at 11am, cooked by Jazzey from My Kitchen Rules, we will be having free face painting & sand card art workshop for the kids along with Ex West Coast Eagles Players Kasey Green & Adam Hunter Kicking an Football around with the kids. 

We have over 50 raffle prizes to be won donated by businesses all over Perth.  

Tickets are $10 per adult & $5 per child for the walk. But if people want to come to the barbecue only then it is free. Sausage sizzle is $4 for sausage & drink Raffles are $2 each or 3 for $5. 

All profits going straight to Bowel Group for Kids to help for Families going through Childhood Bowel diseases, such as Hirschsprung’s Disease.

Sports News

Wembley Districts Junior cricket club are hosting free cricket sessions for girls at Revo sports these holidays, with a session on Thursday 17th July for girls aged 5-11. See attached flyer for details to book.

Redhage Basketball is coming to Kapinara on Friday afternoons in Term 3! Flyer is attached below. The program is open for Years 1-4.

Coastal Tennis will be returning in Term 3. Tennis lessons will be held before school on Friday mornings. Please visit the school’s page at www.coastaltennis.com.au for more information and enrolments.

Lost Property

The P&C are currently seeking 2 helpers to sort and distribute lost property back to our children on Fridays. There will be a sale of fresh organic produce after school this Friday in the quad.

School banking

All children welcome for school banking every Wednesday! It helps our kids to learn great saving habits and it also helps the school with fundraising. See the team in the instrumental room before school every Wednesday. Thanks for your support of this valuable program.

Around the School

Safety for our kids is paramount around the school, could drivers please ensure:

  • They are not accessing staff car parks for drop offs or U-turns
  • No U-turns are performed on the street surrounding the school, especially using our neighbours drive ways
  • Kiss and Drive used as prescribed, i.e moving forward, moving on around the block if your child is late for another pass

Entertainment book: 
Your eldest child should by now have brought home an inspection copy of the Entertainment Book (unless you opted not to receive one). The Entertainment Book is one of the P&C’s main fundraising activities for the year, so please take a look at the book and see what’s in it for you. The book contains hundreds of great offers across dining, retail, travel, leisure and more.
The book can be purchased as a print copy or as a digital app. You will find instructions for purchasing the book on the yellow handout which came home with the book. If you would prefer not to purchase the book, as a print copy or at all, please return it in the labelled envelope provided, to the box in the Front Office. Thank you for your support!

Disco Thank You

Thank you again to everyone who helped with the School Disco.  

The night was a huge success and it all wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the wonderful Kapinara children and their families. Special thanks to Isabelle Ropers fabulous Mum, Carolyn, who kindly donated her time and materials to face paint our kids for the night. Another big thank you to Honey and Lucy Wards parents, Mel and Chris, who very generously supplied the stunning Hollywood letter lights, they looked spectacular!

Another shout out goes to Nathan from Creative Meats at The Herdsman who provided over 350 top quality snaggers for everyone to enjoy.

One last thank you to the Floreat Surf Club and their generosity towards our event. The disco was all that more fabulous for hosting it at Floreat Surf Club. The venue is available for regular hire for parties, events and weddings. Floreat Surf Club is a great community Surf Club that would love to welcome new members into their surf lifesaving programmes. Next season opens on Sunday October 27th. Contact the club directly on 9385 9370 to enquire about their Nippers programme or to hire the main hall for events and weddings. They look forward to many more discos at Floreat SLSC.

P&C News Week 7

A HUGE THANK YOU!

The Disco Committee (aka Disco Divas), Year 6 Students and Parents would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who went along to the School Disco on Friday night.  What a magic night it was, we had our own little bit of Hollywood in Floreat!  The night was a huge success and it all wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the wonderful Kapinara children and their families.  Special thanks to Isabelle R’s fabulous Mum, Carolyn, who kindly donated her time and materials to face paint our kids for the night.  Another big thank you to Mel and Chris, Honey and Lucy W’s parents, who very generously supplied the stunning Hollywood letter lights, they looked spectacular!

General News Week 5

Year 6 Day Camp – 21st May 2019 (Day Camp photos in our Gallery section)

On our Day Camp we grew our leadership skills of perspective and active listening as we learned about Aboriginal culture and how to fish and hunt. We tried some bush tucker such as damper and kangaroo.  There was so much knowledge and understanding of the land and animals that we never realised, like the Aboriginal people adapted themselves, not the environment. We also did lots of other activities like grinding grain, painting our faces with a totem animal and making fire. Lots of parents came to help us with our barbeque and then we did a night walk through the forest to look for native animals – so many spiders and possums! All our learning was done outside surrounded by beautiful native trees and bushes. At the end of the day, our most prized possessions are our memories of the great time and learning we had at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre. Charli, Emma, Charleze, Anna, Luka, Arwen

Running Club

Thanks to all the children who are participating in Running Club, even if it is really cold some mornings!
All children are welcome from Year 1 to 6 and Mums and Dads too!! We will continue through to Week 9  this term.

Faction Cross Country

The Faction Cross Country is on 12 June 2019, commencing just after recess at 10.45am and running through to lunch time. More information will be coming out by the end of the week.

Walk to School Day- Friday 31 May.

The P&C are hosting Walk to School Day, where children walk to school and then eat a healthy breakfast together. There will be meeting points at Tilton Park, Templetonia Park and Beecroft Park for those who wish to drive part of the way to school and then walk as a group. Coles Floreat is supporting the school by providing yummy breakfast items for the students.

With the Election fast approaching and Kapinara being a polling station we hold a Sausage sizzle and Cake stall to raise funds for our kids.  We are looking for bakers and for people to cook and serve at the BBQ from 0800 – 1400, in 1.5 hour shifts.

P&C News Week 2

The lower playground slope work has been completed over the holidays and looks fantastic. The slope upgrade has been many years in planning, fundraising and obtaining quotes- a huge thanks to Jordy Veerman for all her hard work co-ordinating this. Thanks to all parents for ensuring children don’t play on the slope while the ground stabilises. The Kindy playground has had work completed during the holidays as well and is looking fresh and fantastic for the kindy kids to play in. Thanks to all parents for their support of the P&C to ensure we can fund these important tasks in the school. Please support the Entertainment Book fundraiser and the school disco which are currently selling tickets. Thanks also to the fabulous effort of all parents supporting the Pre Primary Easter Raffle- a total of $2418 was raised for Pre Primary!!!

The Community Patch – the vegetable patch outside the Pre Primary area is looking productive and there will be a sale of fresh organic produce from the Patch this Friday in the Quad area. Gold coin donation, please come and support the Patch and get some fresh herbs and vegetables for your family.

School Banking– This is held every Wednesday morning from 8.30am in the Instrumental room.

Kapinara School Disco – June 7th 2019 

The year 6 parents and students would like to invite all students from Kindy to Year 6 to the school’s annual disco Friday June 7th upstairs at Floreat Beach Surf Club.  The Junior disco (Kindy to Year 2) will run from 5.00-6.30pm and the Senior disco (Years 3 to 6) from 7.00-8.30pm. There will be a fun theme, DJ, decorations, food and drink included in your ticket price.
Floreat Beach Surf Club is a fantastic and secure venue that provides plenty of space for the children to move and the DJ to set up. The area is fully lockable downstairs so no child is able to enter or leave the premises without being signed off on the attendance register.  The senior students will enter through the front door for their disco whilst the younger children will be taken to the back courtyard to await pickup with year 6 parents as supervisors throughout the evening.  Please note that the disco is fully supervised by Year 6 parents who will be easily identifiable.  Bathroom and kitchen facilities are all within the complex so there is no need for anyone to exit once they have been signed in.
This is an off school grounds experience which makes it extra exciting for the kids. However, if your child feels uncomfortable being left alone any parent is welcome to come up to the balcony area to stay and watch (younger siblings are also welcome). 
The school disco is a major fundraiser for the Year 6 students and the money raised goes towards their camp and graduation activities. So please put the date in your diary and support our Year 6s. Further information will be sent out closer to the event.

School fundraiser – The school is collecting Woollies stickers again this year.  We have collection boxes in the office and there will be one down at Kindy as well. Stickers are to be placed on a sheet (these are at the office and at Kindy) and placed in the box and then we can earn to obtain resources for the school.  This will run from 1 May to 25 June, thank you.

Churchlands SHS is delighted to be able to present the Musical Production of ‘Wicked’. One of the stars of the production is Ella Clarke, a former Kapinara student! Coastal Tennis- TENNIS COACHING FOR YEARS PP – 6
A school tennis program is being offered to the children of Kapinara Primary School. This program will run for eight (8) weeks. Lessons commence:  Years PP-3 Friday 10th May, 7.45-8.30am . Years 4-6 Friday 10th May, 7.30-8.30am. Please see attached brochure for details of how to sign up and fees.

The Year 6 families are hosting the upcoming Kapinara Hollywood Red Carpet Disco.  The disco will be held at the Floreat Surf Club on Friday 7th June 2019.

Kindy – Year 2 (5.00pm – 6.30pm)  Year 3 – Year 6 (7.00pm – 8.30pm)

Dress up in Hollywood Red Carpet attire.

Please place order forms and cash ($15 per child) into a sealed envelope and deposit into the Disco drawer in the school office by Friday 31st May.  Physical tickets will not be distributed.  Your child’s name will be added to a list and ticked off on arrival and departure on the night.
