Mixed Netball 
Last Call for students interested in playing Netball in terms 2&3, I’m creating teams at the moment so need to know now. We need more players in most year levels, but especially year 5’s and 6’s. 
If you haven’t contacted me directed via email or wrote your name down at the front office, I don’t have your student down. If last year’s players are playing again I need to know. Please contact me. The Netball association need teams set by 15th March.

The upcoming Rotary Cambridge Schools’ Programme guest speaker will be Claire Orange from BEST Programs 4 Kids.  Her topic is “Anxiety”.  On Wednesday the 6th of March Claire will be talking about helping anxious children to come to terms with their anxiety and to help them to cope so that they can fulfill their potential academically, socially and also in their after school activities. Parent Reps

The P&C warmly welcomes you and your family to 2019 at Kapinara, and would like to invite you to support the P&C in taking on a role of Parent Representative for your child’s classIt doesn’t require a huge amount of time, and it’s a great way of getting to know teachers and other parents in your year group. 

There are two different positions available to be filled: 

  1. Admin Rep for your class (1x per class): Help recruit volunteers from your class group to help in the Canteen and Cake stalls, Keep your class contact lists updated (provided at start of year); share information between your class and the teacher; 
  2. Social Rep (1 or 2x per year group): Plan a few social events to keep your year group connected and engaged. 

Guidance will be provided for first timers! If you’d like further information or have questions, feel free to contact Kate Marquis on ksrowlands@hotmail.com or 0437 005 173, otherwise put your name on the sign-up sheets which can be found outside your class rooms

Canteen News

The canteen is looking fabulous with new windows and new flooring! It has made a huge improvement to the canteen. The P&C has reviewed the operation of the canteen to ensure it is as efficient and accessible as possible and the online ordering system has been a great addition. In comparing the menu with several other local public primary schools, we have adjusted prices very slightly to reflect costs and what other schools are providing. The P&C has also decided that the canteen will not operate if volunteers have not been confirmed for the following week. All volunteer spots are requested to be filled by 9am Friday morning, so that canteen can operate knowing it has support and the ability to feed all the children on time. There will be a ‘Feedback and Suggestions box’ placed outside the canteen so that you can provide direct feedback to the P&C about these changes. These suggestions can then be discussed at the following meeting for consideration. The canteen is open to suggestions but needs the certainty of volunteers signing up to work effectively. Thank you in advance for your support. Hope to see you in the canteen soon to admire all the new alterations!

End of Year Sausage Sizzle
Thursday December 13th is the last day of school and as the canteen is closed that week the P&C have agreed to support Variety WA to hold a sausage sizzle meal deal for lunch that day. For $5 your child will receive a sausage in a bun, juice box and mini muffin. All order forms need to be placed in the note drawer at the front office with $5 cash by 3pm Monday 10 December. The sausages provided will be Fail Safe beef sausages and if anyone has any queries please contact Cass Leaman on 0409 107 974 or cassleaman1@gmail.com (Please note the end of year sausage sizzle is separate from the Year 6 one today). Last Chance for Lost Property!
Any items not claimed by Friday 7th December will be donated to charity.
Lost property will be displayed in the quadrangle from 8.15am on Fridays. Please check at home and school bags to make sure you have the correct hat and jumper as many have gone missing. This is also a timely reminder to label all uniform items and personal belongings before the beginning of the new school year. If items are clearly labelled, they have a much better chance of being returned.

Splash & Dash 
Swimming WA’s Splash & Dash carnival on Saturday December 1 open to swimmers aged between 7-11 who are have not reached AA swimming times (they are listed in the registration link below).  All swimmers are welcome. Come along and enjoy a fun day of racing in the pool. There is an entry fee per event, with each child able to participate in a maximum of 4 events.

Kapinara Uniform Shop Notice

Kapinara Uniform shop will be closed the last week of school for Stocktake.
Last day’s opened this year will be the 4th and 6th of December. We will be opened Friday the 1st February 9-11am prior to school starting in 2019. But you don’t have to wait until then!
Do you have a child starting in PP 2019, now is the time to start thinking about school uniforms.
We will have a special uniform open day the Wednesday 28th November after the PP parent information session. 3-4pm. We also have our regular open days of Tuesday and Thursdays morning 8.30-9am.
2019 Kindy t-shirts are in stock, and available at the uniform shop. We will also set up a stall on Monday 3rd December 9.30-10.30 on the Kindy capers day.

P&C News Week 6

We are in the homeward stretch of the year, only 42 days til Christmas !!!! Here are a few items for your attention and consideration:

Busy Bee in Kindy & Pre-primary

The Kindy and PP playgrounds are in much need of some TLC and we are calling out for your help! Here’s the list:

Sunday, 18 November, 9am – 11am

– Sweeping sand out of Kindy cubby

– Weeding for both PP/Kindy play areas

– General sweeping and raking of mulch under play equipment

– Picking up of sticks etc out of sandpit

– Cleaning timber with Deck Clean detergent (as required)

– Sanding/scraping of wood where required in preparation for oil staining the following weekend.

 

Sunday, 25 November 9am – 11am

– Staining of all cleaned timber

– Staining of wooden seating decks (front of school, underneath trees and next door to the library)

– General tidy up (weeding, sweeping).

Equipment will be provided i.e. brushes, scrapers, sandpaper, staining oil etc. Many hands make light work!!  Approx 10 people for each weekend would be ideal, which should finish the jobs in 2 hours.

Kapinara Festive Market Friday 30th November 3.30 til 6pm

The P&C will hold a festive market at the school where Kapinara Parents and Friends will be able to showcase their unique and fashionable gifts and clothes from their small retail businesses. If you have already responded with an EOI please complete the application form. If you have not completed an EOI or know of someone who might like to hold a stall please complete/forward application.  Applications close on Friday 23rd November, either drop to the office or scan and email back to this address.

Position Vacant on P&C: Canteen Roster Coordinator

This role involves setting up the Signup term rosters, sending emails and reminders to the class parent representatives asking for volunteer help, publishing the canteen roster in the School Newsletter, and communicating with the Canteen Managers. At the start of every year at the AGM all P&C positions are deemed vacant, if you are interested in taking up a position as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer or an Executive committee member. Please do not hesitate to contact the current P&C Members (via this email) to ascertain what the position involves to determine if it is something you want to be involved in, and are able to undertake all duties required for the coming year. Kapinara’s P&C is only able to continue its great work with parent contribution and volunteers.

A friendly reminder that if you volunteer for a 2 hour shift your child/children can enjoy a snack item from the menu for free. If you volunteer for a full shift 8:45am to 1:00pm your child/children can enjoy a snack item & a lunch item from the menu for free. 

The recent problem with Quickclick was a nation wide problem which has now been resolved.

Proposal for a Festive Market Fair at Kapinara

The P&C would love the opportunity to run a small fair at Kapinara and are inviting expressions of interest from families in our school community who might have a stall they would like to run. The proposed date for the fair is Friday 30th November 3:30pm to 6:00pm and the idea is to create a fun afternoon for our school community to enjoy together. Any interested stall holders are asked to please compete and return the  Expression-of-Interest form by Friday 9th November.

P&C News Week 2

Cake Stall Fundraiser

After school on Friday 26th October there will be a cake stall selling goodies for afternoon tea. You are invited to send your child to school with a few dollars to spend. The cake stall is being run by the Year 3 and Year 4 families.

Choir Performance

The boys and girls choirs are performing at the Wembley Downs District Fair on Saturday 27th October at 8:25am. Families are invited to go along to watch and support their performance. (and a friendly reminder to those in the choirs to hand in permission slips).

Basketball

There are over 130 Kapinara students participating in the Summer Basketball Competition this year. It is a fantastic effort!
Fixtures for the current week will be displayed every Monday morning in the school office and can also be accessed with the following link   http://www.hawksbasketball.com.au/court-plans/  You will see the competitions listed and just need to click on the relevant one to see the  court plan. Any bye requests need to be sent to the Hawkes Administrator, Jenny Purser: jenny@hawkesbasketball.com.au  providing as much notice as possible, but at least a week as a minimum. 
Finally, a friendly reminder to the remaining families who have not yet paid the $15 fee to Mrs Smith for the basketball registration.

Inflatable Soccer

This competition begins next week. Fixtures will be sent to team managers this Friday. 
Games for Yr 1-3 will be Wednesdays and for Yr 4-6 on Tuesdays
Please anticipate when your child is playing at 5:00pm that all parents are required to stay after the game to help pack away the equipment. You can expect this job will take until approx 6:05pm and about 8 parents are needed.
