Orchestra Rehearsals +
IMSS students typically join the school’s string orchestra in their second year of learning and instrument. This means violin and viola students commence when they are in Year 4, cello students when they are in Year 5 and double bass students in Year 6. The orchestra is led by our violin/viola teacher, Ms Therese Arnold.
The Orchestra rehearses once a week on Tuesday morning in the Music Room. Students are required to be at school at 7:30am in order to set up for orchestra, rehearse and pack up by 8:30am. In addition to providing an opportunity for students to apply their music skills in a moderate sized ensemble, the orchestra performs at the annual WA Schools’ Junior Orchestra Festival.
School Hours & Attendance +
Arrival at School
Parents are asked that children do not arrive at school before 8.15 unless participating in a before school activity. Children arriving early are to sit outside the staff room , with their bags until 8.15am. All students should be on the school premises by 8.40am. If a student arrives after 8.45am, they must present to the front office and obtain a late card to hand to their teacher.
Absentees
FULL DAY If your child is going to be absent from school, please complete the online absentee advice on our website. You will find this it the top right of our home page. Please include the reason for the absence. We are required to mark the absence as ”unacceptable reason’ should the information be incomplete.
APPOINTMENTS Should it be unavoidable to take your child out for an appointment or will be arriving late or leaving early, please also complete the online absence so that we are aware they are leaving. Use the drop down box to advise that it is a partial absence and note the arrival or departure time. eg arriving 10.30am. A parent or carer must still sign them out via the ‘Passtab’ device at the office so we have an accurate time record of who is on the premises in the case of any emergency. Office staff can sign the student back in on their return.
Both absentees come through to Admin and are forwarded onto your child’s teacher/s.
UNEXPLAINED ABSENCES If we have not received an absence form by 10.00am and your child is absent, you will be sent an SMS to alert you. Please respond to this text with an absence explanation.

Kiss & Drive +
- Please always join the end of the queue
- Continuously move your car forward until you reach the loading area, ensuring gaps don’t open up between your car and the car in front of you
- Adults are to remain inside vehicles during drop off and pick up
- Children should exit the car on the side of the path (never on the road)
- Please have children travel with their bags in easy reach to speed up loading and unloading. For example, at their feet or on the front seat if children are sitting in the back (not in the boot or out of reach so that the driver needs to get out of the car)
- Please exit the Kiss and Drive zone promptly
In addition to our Kiss and Drive guidelines please also observe the following:
- Do not pull into driveways to reverse and change direction
- Do not ‘U-Turn’ in any of the streets surrounding the school
Communications +
Website and Email
This is the most effective way the school can communicate will all parents.
All current information is uploaded on the website including events, notes and latest news. Links to our online newsfeed will continue to be emailed each week on Tuesdays.
Parent Interviews
Parents wishing to discuss their child’s progress with the class teacher are asked to make an appointment. Should you have concerns about classroom matters, the school protocol is that you address these with the class teacher first. You will be advised if the class teacher wishes to discuss your child’s progress.
Please do not interrupt teachers when they are preparing lessons before school, occupied in classroom duties or due to attend staff meetings. All staff have email addresses for ease of communication.
