End of Term Message
Dear Parents and Carers
It’s hard to believe that we are already at the end of Term 1. Thank you for all your help and support so far this year. We’ve had a very busy and productive term with swimming, NAPLAN and numerous incursions and excursions that have enriched our students’ education. It was particularly exciting to have Andrew, the trainee seeing eye dog, join us at assembly last week. Thank you to our P&C for all their hard work including our family Sundowner, the delicious cake stall and arranging the Easter Raffle and Hot Cross buns (also delicious).
Wishing our interschool swimming team every success at the Interschool Swimming Carnival tomorrow.

We look forward to seeing our students back refreshed, energised and eager to share their holiday memories with us on Monday 24 April and also invite families to join us for our ANZAC Day Service on Wednesday 26 April at 11.15am.
We hope you all have a safe and relaxing Easter break.
With all good wishes
Elizabeth, Joanne and Aleisha

WA Sporting Schools have advised that due to technical difficulties they will be unable to stream the event.

School Board Nominations – closing tomorrow
The Kapinara Primary School Board is seeking nominations for two parent members to commence, up to a three-year tenure, as a member of our School Board.
The Board meets four to six times per year, in the evening for approximately two hours.
Our current members include Steven Hendry (Year 6 parent), Bronwyn Grieve (Year 3 & Year 6 parent) and Felicity Maher (Year 3 & Year 5 parent).
Our School Board seeks to be representative of the school community.
Having quality members is a critical part of establishing and maintaining a successful board.
Ensuring diversity on our board will contribute toward effective school governance, and ultimately lead to better-informed decision-making, new ideas, opinions, solutions and stronger connections with the school community. Persons bringing diversity to the School Board are encouraged to nominate.
If you would like to submit a nomination for one of the above positions, please refer to the Nomination Form. This can be scanned and emailed to me at Elizabeth.Blackwell@education.wa.edu.au.
Nominations to be received by 4:00pm on Wednesday 5 April 2023.
Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre Visit
Year Three and Four classes ventured forth to Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre on Thursday, 30 March and thoroughly enjoyed finding out about the animal groups that live in both woodland and aquatic environments. Scooping leaf litter and netting water creatures was a lot of fun and walking through the paperbark woodlands and seeing so many different kinds of vertebrates and birds was a real highlight. We even learnt how to treat a snake bite and how to keep safe around snakes.
Mrs Hopetoun-Smith would like to thank all the fabulous parent helpers who accompanied us on our excursion. We all appreciated the time given in order to attend and help us all enjoy our hands-on, real-life interactions with vertebrates and invertebrates.

Running Club
Cross country (XC) Training will be commencing on Monday Mornings 7:15 to 8:15 Mondays and Thursday afternoons 3:30 – 4:30pm for Years 3 – 6 . Meeting point will be on the top oval; drink bottles, running shoes and happy faces are all that is needed, no need to register. Training will commence first week back at school on Thursday 27 April.
We do train in rainy weather however if there are thunderstorms or severe weather warnings, training will not go ahead. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

ANZAC Commemoration Service

If there are any parents who would like to assist with the wreath making, please let Mrs Hopetoun-Smith know via email at your earliest convenience. Secateurs and gloves will be required! Thank you in advance for your assistance. Gemma.Hopetoun-Smith@education.wa.edu.au
The service will be held at 11.15am on Wednesday in the School quadrangle with a guest speaker and a live trumpet player from Churchlands Senior High School.
