Tabloid Carnival K-2 (1.20pm-2.45pm)

We look forward to our Tabloid Carnival tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us. As previously advised we confirm the follow details regarding the carnival. A reminder that dogs are not permitted on the school grounds during school hours.

We would like to invite parents to come in and enjoy lunch with your child, either on the Lower Oval or on the grassed area near Kindy, anytime from 12:15pm. You are welcome to collect your K-2 child from their classroom.

The children will then head back to class at 12:55pm to get organised for the start of the tabloid carnival scheduled to start at 1:20pm. The classes will make their way up to their designated starting point on the oval, with their teacher. Parents are welcome to observe the games and watch from a safe distance, rotating with their child’s class. At the end of the day the students will go back to class with their teacher and be dismissed from their classrooms

The children will not be competing in their faction groups, so it is not necessary to dress in their coloured faction shirt. Hats, running shoes and a water bottle are a must for the day though.

There may be an opportunity for parents to show off their running skills as well so make sure you wear your running shoes too!

Faction Carnival Report

The Faction Athletics Carnival was a huge success this year with amazing performance and participation from all students. It was a fantastic community event with outstanding support from our parent community.
Our champions were:

Champions
Scarlett M, George V, Billie M, Nixon G, Nate S, Clara B, Hope M, Arata S
Runner-up Champions
Annabel VN, Archie W, Annabel T, Leo S, Harper T, Xavier M, Meg W, Arki E

Our winning faction for the 3rd time this year was Winter with 2993 points, second were Strickland with 2099 points and in third was Elliott with 1925 points.

I would like to thank all the parents who came to support their children and all those parents who gave up their time to help with the events. The parental involvement was very much appreciated.

For those students who have qualified for the interschool event this will be held on Tuesday 13th September at our very own oval here at Kapinara.

NAPLAN

We have received hard copies of the Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN reports which will be sent home with students this week. Please ensure you keep these reports, as they are often required for High School applications. We do receive many requests for lost copies to be resent, so it would be greatly appreciated if they are kept in a safe place until required.

Bee Season

With Spring having arrived, we are noticing pollen settling on the ground around the schools. It’s the time of year we notice bee swarms and clusters. If swarms are noticed, the staff will move children away from the area. They nearly always move on within 30 mins. If they remain longer and form a hive in lower tree branches, we can have it removed by a beekeeper. There are always hives high in the trees surrounding the upper playground and these will not be removed.

Lost Property

We have a very large accumulation of lost property items at the moment. With our Tabloid Carnival tomorrow it would be a great opportunity for parents to have a check for missing belongings.

Australian Girls’ Choir Workshop

Unfortunately the representative from the AGC was not able to attend last Wednesday. The workshop has been rescheduled to Thursday 15 September. If you did not return an Expression of Interest for your daughter and are interested, please do so by Monday 12 September. Forms are available at the front office.

School Cleaner Required

Kapinara is in need of a cleaner required for 2 hours per day before school each week day. If any of our parents are interested or know someone who may be (ideal for a uni student), please call the office and speak to Linda Wayman
