Principal’s Message – End of Term

Dear Parents and Carers

I’m not sure where Term 3 has gone really. Term 2 seemed to zoom by, and Term 3 seems to have also passed quickly. Having said that, most of us are well and truly ready to have some ‘down’ time and a good rest! Let’s hope for some lovely weather.

The last two to three weeks have been quite eventful.

Speeches

Congratulations and thank you to the following three students who so capably represented our school at last week’s local schools’ Speech Night. Mila G (Year 5) and Noa M and Stephanie W (both Year 6) represented Kapinara. All nine speakers presented a thoughtful speech that was polished, well-structured and engaging. As you will have noted in a previous post, Stephanie W was the top performer. Congratulations Stephanie!

Interschool Athletics

Over 60 of our students in Years 3-6 represented Kapinara at the Interschool Athletics event last week. It was lovely to greet everyone as they came off the bus at the very end of the day. They were so proud of their efforts and achievements, and delighted to have performed so well. Not only did Kapinara place third overall, but Xavier M received the award for Year 3 Champion Boy; and Mila G and Owen M (both Year 5), and Stephanie W and Eita S (both Year 6) received Runners-Up awards. Congratulations! Thank you to all students who represented our school; and thanks to Ms Burrows and Mr Hodgson for the ongoing training and support that underpins the students’ skilled performance and sportsmanship.

Cyber Safety Education

Huge thanks to the P & C for funding last week’s evening presentation by Clinical Psychologist Jordan Foster. Teaching staff completed a two-hour session with Jordan immediately before. I’m sure that everyone who attended found the information presented really helpful … if not a little frightening!

Crunch and Sip – The Great Vegie Crunch

The Great Vegie Crunch, an initiative supported by the Cancer Council WA and Healthway, was brought to life last Friday by Canteen Manager Kirsten P and a couple of trusty helpers. Kapinara students were treated to individual vegie snack packs. Many thanks to Kirsten for bringing the initiative to our attention, and for making it happen!

Year 1 and 2 Picnic

Today many parents of children in Years 1 and 2 joined us for a picnic lunch on the lower oval. The weather was perfect, and it was a lovely opportunity for everyone to get together. We look forward to arranging another one or two of these early in Term 4 … and also one for our Pre-Primaries!

Crazy Sock Day

Today was crazy sock day … and the socks were certainly crazier than usual. Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun and for your gold coin donations. The $420 raised, will be sent directly to Take 3 for the Sea.

Just a reminder for Term 4, that NORMAL sock wear should be plain short white socks ;-)

Just a reminder that a Vacation Care program will be available through YMCA, who run the Out of School Hours Care program at Kapinara PS. YMCA Kapinara Vacation Care October 2020

I look forward to seeing some of you at 1/2 TB’s assembly tomorrow morning. Best wishes from all of us for a great (SAFE) holiday break. We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.
