Dear Parents and Carers
School life continues to be busy despite there being little more than two weeks of the 2021 school year remaining!
Last week:
- Our Year 5 Double Bass students were involved in a special workshop at Churchlands SHS;
- Our incoming Kindergarten students had a taste of what Kindergarten will be like next year when they attended ‘Kindy Capers’;
- Eight Year 6 students represented Kapinara at the local schools’ debating event held in Council Chambers at the Town of Cambridge
- The Year 2 superstars in 2JJ hosted a wonderful ‘feel-good’ assembly. Having enjoyed a live performance of Mary Poppins at John Curtin College of the Arts earlier this year, the children treated us to a performance of ‘Anything can happen if you let it … ‘; and
- The assembly also included a special performance by our Year 5 guitar students (who have only been learning this year), and their teacher Miss Ibrahimbegovic who joined us that morning for the performance.
- Congratulations to all those involved in a great assembly!

This week:
- The Year 3 students are completing their final session of Bike Education this week;
- Tomorrow is our end-of-year concert
- On Friday the Year 4 students in 4BH will host our final official assembly for the year.
Still to come:
- Swimming lessons at Bold Park Aquatic in Weeks 9 and 10
- Year 6 Graduation on Tuesday 14 December
End of Year Concert
- Children are meeting at their classroom by 5:10pm
- The Orchestra will open the concert at 5:30pm, and the Kindy students will follow.
- There will be a 5-10 minute break after the Kindergarten performance to enable parents to collect their child from behind the stage.
- Families who have only a Kindy child performing are invited to remain for the rest of the concert, but we also understand that some of you might choose to take your child home.
- The concert is expected to run ‘straight through’ for about an hour. That is, in planning for a short, simple but happy community event, there won’t be an interval this year.
- To ensure we keep everyone safe, at the end of the concert, all students will be collected from their class teacher, and recorded as such. Thank for your understanding.
**We understand that a relaxed, outdoor environment will mean everyone catching up and chatting. However, it is likely that you will be seated near families who have children in other year levels, and we therefore respectfully ask that everyone is quiet for the few minutes WHEN children in individual year levels are actually singing.

School Board
The School Board met on Monday to discuss the information received via the Parent Survey. The information was very helpful, and this together with the input from school staff will help us draft our next Business Plan. Thanks to those who have offered to assist in some capacity moving forward.
I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Vanessa Elliot and Taryn Landless, both of whom have been members of the Board for three years. Vanessa has also been Board Chair since late 2020 and has done a volume of work behind the scenes, to ensure the Board functions as effectively as possible, and will continue to do so. THANK YOU so much ladies!
As I indicted previously, there is an opportunity for two people within our parent community to join continuing parent members Naomi Taylor, Steve Hendry and Kate Bardill on the Board. Tenures are for one, two or three years and are staggered to ensure there is continuity for the Board over time.
If you are interested in nominating for the Board you will find some information including the Board’s 2021 Annual Report, on our school website, and a nomination form attached to this week’s email. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at Elizabeth.Blackwell@education.wa.edu.au or through the school office (9237 7450) if you require any further information.
Out of School Hours Care
I’m delighted to advise that the incoming provider of Out of School Hours Care (OSHC), TheirCare is working towards commencing Vacation Care on 4 January 2022. State Manager Haydn Thompson was at Kapinara yesterday and was able to meet current OSHC staff. The transfer of the OSHC licensing agreement is currently in train, and TheirCare will have information for families as soon as possible.
Best Wishes
Elizabeth Blackwell
