At Kapinara Primary School, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued, respected and ready to learn.
We believe that students learn best when they feel emotionally secure, connected to others and confident in themselves. Our wellbeing approach supports students to develop resilience, empathy, positive relationships and strong self-awareness.
A Whole-School Approach to Wellbeing
Wellbeing at Kapinara is embedded across all aspects of school life, including classroom learning, playground interactions and whole-school programs. Staff work collaboratively to promote respectful relationships, positive behaviour and a strong sense of belonging for all students.
We support students to develop lifelong skills in emotional regulation, problem-solving and social awareness. Please refer to the school’s Positive behavioural policy in the Policy section of the website for full details.
Grow Your Mind
Kapinara Primary School proudly uses the Grow Your Mind program to support student mental health and wellbeing.
Through engaging stories, characters and language, students learn about:
- Emotions and how to understand them
- Strategies for managing stress and challenges
- Building resilience and positive thinking
- Developing empathy and kindness toward others
The program provides a shared language for wellbeing that students can use both at school and at home.
School Chaplaincy
Our School Chaplain plays an important role in supporting student wellbeing and fostering a caring school community.
The Chaplain provides:
- Social and emotional support for students
- Small group and one-on-one support (with consent)
- Assistance during times of change or challenge
- Support for positive relationships and inclusion
- Engagement with families and staff where appropriate
The Chaplain works alongside school staff to ensure students feel safe, supported and connected.

Positive Behaviour Support
We promote clear expectations for behaviour that help students understand how to act safely, respectfully and responsibly in all areas of school life.
Our approach is guided by our school values and focuses on building a positive, supportive and inclusive culture where all students can thrive.
At Kapinara Primary School, our values guide the way we learn, work and interact with others:
- Kindness
- Consideration
- Service
Values Badges
We recognise and celebrate students who consistently demonstrate our school values through our Values Badges program.
Values badges are a positive way of acknowledging students’ efforts, encouraging consistent behaviour and reinforcing the importance of our shared expectations.
Through consistent expectations, positive reinforcement and strong relationships, we support all students to make positive choices and contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment.
Working Together
We value strong partnerships with families in supporting student wellbeing. Open communication between home and school is essential in ensuring each child feels supported and understood.
If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing, we encourage you to contact your child’s classroom teacher or the school administration team.
Together, we can support every student to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
