Principal’s Message

Dear Families

Thank you so much for supporting our request to donate books. The response was overwhelming and quite humbling. The small group of Year 4 girls are currently sorting and classifying them, and I hope to be able to share some images of those in the next week or so. The initiative complements Friday’s Pyjama Day which is raising money to support the Unicef effort in Ukraine. While slippers are the perfect accessory for pjs, please ensure your child has shoes that will enable him/her to participate safely in regular school activities, including running and climbing!

Just to confirm once again, we do not have an assembly on Friday this week.

Music Performance

Last Friday the children from Pre-Primary to Year 4 were treated to performances by our Orchestra, led by Ms Therese Arnold, and the Year 6 Guitar ensemble. Some of the Year 6 instrumental students also played separately from the Orchestra to enable the audience to see and hear each of the instruments on their own. Thank you and congratulations to all students who shared their skills and talents on the day and thank you to both Ms Arnold and our guitar teacher, Ms Ibrahimbegovic who joined us specifically for the performances.

It is interesting to learn which instruments individual students identified as their ‘favourite’. I was amazed at some of the drawings by children in Year 1!

Public Speaking

Last Monday Meg W, Year 6 represented Kapinara Primary School and the Cambridge branch of Rotary at the District final of the Rotary ‘Four Way Test’ public speaking competition. We were so proud of you Meg!

Staff Changes

Friday was Mrs Jackson’s last day at Kapinara. Mrs Jackson has been at Kapinara for twelve years, but is now moving to the country, where she will be nearer family. We wish Mrs Jackson and her husband a very happy and rewarding ‘tree change’.

The previous week we also said farewell to Ms Carina Ramos, our Out of School Hours Care coordinator. She has taken up a similar position closer to where she lives, which will significantly reduce her travel time each day. Carina was such an asset to TheirCare and the company has been working hard to find a high quality replacement.

Tabloids and Open Day

We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow when the classrooms are open, to hear the choir at 8:30am or 3:15pm and/or to watch the children from Kindy to Year 2 participate in the afternoon tabloids.

Best wishes
Elizabeth
