Principals Message

As we wrap up Term 2, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the many wonderful things happening across our school and thank our students, staff and families for a successful and rewarding term.

From vibrant classroom learning to excursions, assemblies and sporting events, it has been a busy and productive term. I continue to be impressed by the way our students approach their learning with curiosity, kindness and a willingness to support one another. These values are the cornerstone of who we are at Kapinara.

Thank you to our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment to creating a safe, engaging and inclusive environment for all children. Their professionalism and care are evident every day.

To our families, thank you for the many ways you support your children and our school, whether through volunteering, encouraging learning at home, or simply partnering with us to build a strong sense of community.

As we move into the holidays, I hope everyone finds time to rest, recharge and enjoy some unhurried moments with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 on Tuesday 22 July ready for another term of learning and growth.

New Staff Welcome – Jade Brennan, Manager Corporate Services

I’m truly excited to be joining Kapinara Primary School’s community as your new Manager Corporate Services.

What drew me to Kapinara was the incredible sense of connection and the school’s deep commitment to helping every student achieve their best. From the very beginning, I could tell this is a place where people genuinely care—for each other, for the students, and for the wider community.

I’m genuinely looking forward to building meaningful relationships with staff, students, and families, and to playing a role in the continued success of this special place.

For me, this role is about more than finance, operations, and administration—it’s about supporting the people who make the school thrive. Whether it’s assisting staff behind the scenes, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, or simply being a friendly, approachable presence around the school.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Kapinara story—and I can’t wait to get started.

Manager Corporate Services

Interschool Cross Country Results

The Interschool Cross Country Carnival hosted by City Beach Primary School was a great success. Kapinara students raced with pride and demonstrated grit and determination. The weather was perfect, and we had a fantastic supportive spirit. Thank you to all the families that were able to give their time to support the students and a special thank you to our parent volunteers who helped us on the day.

We had 2 medal winners – Mia T finished 2nd in the year 5 girls’ race and Grayson V finished 3rd in the year 4 boys’ race. We had several top ten finishers including Jesse T, James B, Cooper L, Annabelle V and Rosie J.

Kapinara finished in 5th position overall with 10 schools competing. The overall competition was won once again by Wembley Primary School.

Kindy/Pre-Primary Parent Workshops Coming in Term 3

Stay tuned for sign-up details for a series of engaging parent workshops, proudly presented by our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary teaching teams. We’re looking forward to sharing some fantastic learning and strategies with you—watch this space!

Year 6 Build a Beach Incursion

With many of our local beaches being affected by sand loss and erosion, Adopt a Beach Project works in schools to teach about the causes and possible solutions. The Year 6 cohort were visited by this foundation for a hands-on incursion on Tuesday 17th June. They learnt about different examples of beach sand erosion in WA and got to make sand and water models of different wave types in plastic tubs outside.

Student Achievement

We’re thrilled to share that Sasha K. has been selected as a winner in a statewide drawing competition! Her artwork—a beautiful illustration of a fruit bat—will be featured on one of the lanterns displayed at this year’s Lightscape in Kings Park.

With over 1,000 entries and only 80 chosen, this is a fantastic achievement. The competition theme was “Pollinators”, and Sasha’s creative and thoughtful work truly stood out.

Check out her winning artwork attached—well done, Sasha!

Lost Property

Our lost property area is bursting at the seams with jackets, hats, lunch boxes, and more! If your child is missing anything, please pop by and take a look.

All unclaimed, non-labelled items will be donated to the P&C Uniform shop at the end of the day on Friday 4 July 2025.

Thank you for helping us keep our school tidy and giving these items a chance to make their way back home.

Chaplain’s Chat

Dear Families

I hope you’ve had a lovely and memorable term.

Some highlights for me have included delivering the BUZ HOPE wellbeing program, supporting lunchtime gymnastics, meeting with students over ‘lunch with the chaplain’, and working with our Year 6 Kindness Leaders on their great initiatives. I also enjoyed joining classes in their cross-country prep — a great chance to build resilience together!

Cross country sparked some great reflections on mindset. One helpful reminder: “It’s not about whether I win, but learning what I need to do for next time.” Others found strength in focusing on what they truly enjoy — a powerful form of resilience in itself.

A few words that inspired us:

  • “Follow your bliss” – Joseph Campbell
  • “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken” – Oscar Wilde

All the best for a pleasant school holidays.

Kind regards,
Paul Stokes
