Faction Athletics Carnival
With the Athletics Carnival fast approaching, P&C have been busy organising food stalls for the day.
Options that have been organised are:
Watermelon Cups for recess, Chicken Treat or a Sausage sizzle for lunch. Parents are also welcome to order a sausage sizzle if they would like to (numbers are limited). These are only available for pre- order on Qkr.
There will be a Face Painting and Hairspray Stall from 7:30-8:30am, a Cake Stall will also run over recess and a Coffee Van will be available. Parents will be able to eat lunch with their child on the Top Oval during the day.
As the saying goes, many hands make light work, so if you are able to assist in any capacity for even the smallest amount of time, it would be greatly appreciated to enable our carnival to run smoothly.

Finally, a reminder for students to wear their faction shirts with pride, together with their wide brimmed school hat, appropriate footwear, sunscreen and drink bottle.
We cannot wait to share the day with you all!

Caversham Wildlife Excursion
The Year 3 and 4 classes would like to sincerely thank the following amazing parent helpers who accompanied them to Caversham Wildlife Park last Thursday. Bronwyn Grieve, Jane Abbott, Gemma Webb, Vivek Merchant and Zayaan Kahn.
The day was full of keen animal observations and close contact in feeding and touching animals unique to our Australian continent. Thank you to the parents above who gave up their day to come and enjoy the experiences with us. It was a wonderful day and the children have all gained so much from the experience.

Bookweek Parade
The Children’s Book Council theme for this year’s Bookweek is Read, Grow, Inspire! On Friday 25 August, Kapinara will celebrate Bookweek by holding aBook Parade during the assembly. We would love students to dress up as their favourite book character (and bring along the book their character is from) or in a costume inspired by this year’s theme. This is not a competition and students are encouraged to create their own imaginative costume! Parents are most welcome to attend.
Science Week
We celebrated National Science Week last week, along with many other schools across the country. The theme for 2023 was Innovation: Powering Future Industries and incorporated the advancement in technology in all industries, especially those using artificial intelligence (AI). Here is a little snapshot of the students engaged in an array of engaging activities.
In Year 2, the students made sherbet and discussed and drew pictures about innovations on farms, and how they have shaped our world which links in perfectly with their science topic, Chemical Science and this year’s Science Week theme.
The Year 5 students are studying solids, liquids, and gases in Science this term and, as part of National Science Week, used jelly crystals and cornflour to make a tasty oobleck-slime. Whilst the slime was fun to play with, it wasn’t quite as delicious as the jelly snakes they had experimented on the week before! While some groups made the slime, other groups investigated some Artificial Intelligence breakthroughs currently happening around the world and some general digital technology news.

Staff Carpark
Just a reminder that the staff carpark is not to be used by parents at any time. This includes orchestra and choir drop offs or after school sporting or debating activities. It is a safety issue with students entering or leaving the area. Thank you.
