Message from the Relieving Principal

Learning emerges from discovery, not directives; reflection, not rules; possibilities, not prescriptions; diversity, not dogma; creativity and curiosity, not conformity and certainty; and meaning, not mandates. Stephanie Pace Marshall

Thank you to all parents and caregivers for a wonderful term all the staff have appreciated all your support. I am very grateful for the hard work of all the staff, they all work enthusiastically and professionally to ensure all the children have opportunities to thrive, learn and have enjoyable experiences every day.

School Reports

Congratulations to all our students whose reports reflect their hard work this semester. I thank all my teaching staff for their professionalism and commitment to our students. The comments in the reports demonstrate this. There is a tangible quality in the learning programs being delivered and in the outcomes the students are achieving. Please take the time to read your child’s report and acknowledge the hard work and effort they have put in. Words of encouragement go a long way to setting a realistic connection between effort and achievement.

Take a break!

I am very mindful and grateful for the support of our whole school community. It is a fair task to be managing the daily/weekly tasks of family, work, and school. I am hopeful that all the families have a chance to recharge over the next two weeks and re-boot for an exciting second semester. Please encourage your children to take a break from direct learning and technology, an opportunity to relax their mind and enjoy social and life experiences. With the busyness of the term, over the holidays keep things simple and get back to basics, enjoy exploring your own back yard.

Rotary Speaking Contest

This week we had the finals of the Rotary Public Speaking Competition. All the students worked hard all term to prepare and the effort was there for all to see. What was clearly evident in all the students in Year 6 was their passion and determination to do their best. For this to happen, expert teaching is required. I am very grateful to Kylie Lund and Kylie Powell for their skill and commitment to every child.

Public speaking is an important skill for children to learn. To be able to speak confidently and express views boosts confidence. It also challenges children to think on their feet and develop an analytical mindset toward problem-solving. Public speaking also encourages critical thinking, logic, research, memorization, and other vital cognitive skills as they make their way in the world.

Xavier M and Sana L were the successful winners to represent the school and the runner up was Charlotte S.

Student Survey Information

The Year 3 to 6 students undertook a student opinion survey. The key themes that came out of the results were that there are some strong positives, and some areas that we have identified and are working on. In relation to the behaviour and bullying, we have been working on a new behaviour management and bullying policy and procedures this term, and this will be rolled out next term. Support will be provided to staff and students.

Interschool Cross Country Report

On Wednesday 21 June, City Beach Primary School hosted the Interschool Cross-Country at Fred Burton Oval, where nine schools participated in the fun event. The weather was kind, letting the sun break through the clouds giving Kapinara competitors an edge to see some impressive performances and three podium finishes on the day. We saw encouragement, commitment, and lots of determination from all team members in Years 3 to 6, so congratulations to you all.

YEAR 3
Mia T came 4th in her Year 3 Girls 2km race setting a high benchmark for all to see. Noah B placed 8th and Austin H 9th; only seconds between these boys in their 2km race followed by the rest of the field finishing in the top 50.
YEAR 4
Annabel V ran fast into 6th place, Scarlett Mc 9th, Rosie J 12th and the rest finishing in the top 40 for the Year 4 Girls 2km race. Year 4 boys put in a great effort and finished in the top 50.
YEAR 5
Year 5 Boys 2.5km race Croyde B placed 7th, Year 5 Girls Billie Mc blitzed the group with a fine first placing, Lara L came 7th and Emmy T coming 11th with the rest of the girls finishing high in the 2.5km race.
YEAR 6
Year 6 girls made it in the top 50. Year 6 boys Xavier M put in awe inspiring race and finished 1st. Nicholas D, Alex E and Elliot M all helped each other push forward to finish 29th,31st and 32nd for the 2.5km distance race.

Overall Kapinara came 7th at this years carnival.

Thank you for the parents that came out on the day to support the children and helped out. Well done to the year 6 sport captains that worked hard throughout the day to help set up tents, carry equipment, marshal, and encourage the younger years.

Reports

Semester One Reports have been emailed out this afternoon.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE REPORTS & SAVE WITHIN 4 WEEKS as the link will expire. We receive an extremely high number of requests to regenerate reports for families after this link expires so it would be very much appreciated if the reports are downloaded before the link expiry. Thank you.

P&C Wine Fundraiser

Thank you to all families who participated in the fundraiser.
If you have placed an order, they will be available for collection on Wednesday and Thursday this week – 2.45pm to 3.15pm from the front office. Thank you to the P&C for organising!

Afternoon Parking

We have been contacted by some families who are finding parking difficult at pick up times. As many of you choose to enjoy our beautiful school grounds after school, families are parking for longer. The issues arising are that cars are being blocked in from others parking too close. Please be considerate and allow plenty of room for other families to be able to exit their parking spot. Thank you.
