Principal’s Message
Dear Kapinara Primary School Community,
Last week on Tuesday evening, our talented Year 6 students participated in the Rotary Four Way Test speech contest. Finalists Ruby, Nixon, and Holly dedicated themselves to preparing for this event, delving into important social topics such as Mental Health, Social Media, and Animal Shelters.
Ruby and Nixon showcased their impressive speeches while Holly, serving as the reserve, provided fantastic support. Families and Kapinara staff were there to cheer them on, adding to the lively and supportive environment.
The judges praised the event as one of the highest calibres they have ever witnessed. Both Ruby and Nixon delivered outstanding performances, making us incredibly proud. Ruby’s hard work and dedication were further recognised as she secured third place in the competition.
We extend a huge congratulations to Ruby, Nixon, and Holly for their exceptional efforts and commitment. You have made Kapinara proud!
GROW YOUR MIND
Has your child come home this year talking about the Wise Owl or Guard Dog? These characters, along with Sifting Sooty, Sensitive Octopus, and Elephant, are all part of the Grow Your Mind program.
At Kapinara Primary School, we proudly use the Grow Your Mind program to promote positive mental health from Kindergarten through to Year 6. This program helps us build a positive school-wide culture and climate, enhances our knowledge of the brain, and raises awareness about resilience and good mental health habits.
The Grow Your Mind program provides teachers and students with a shared language that can be used in the classroom, staffroom, playground, and at home. This shared language allows everyone to participate in a simple yet effective way.

Thank you for your support in fostering a positive and healthy environment for our children!
Wishing you a fabulous week ahead,
Kylie Reeves

Celebrating Bookweek!
On Friday 23 August, Kapinara will celebrate Bookweek during the 5P assembly. The Children’s Book Council theme for this year is Reading is Magic. We will hold a Book Parade and would love students to dress up as their favourite book character (and bring along the book their character is from) or in a costume inspired by this year’s theme. This is not a competition and students are encouraged to create their own imaginative costume! Parents are invited to attend.
We are also thrilled to be welcoming award-winning Author, Mark Greenwood and award-winning Illustrator Frane’ Lessac to Kapinara, on Wednesday 14 August (Week 5). They will inspire our students with their creativity, their passion for books and their love of history. In sessions throughout the day, Yr1-Yr3 students will work with Frane’ Lessac and Yr 4-6 students will attend workshops with Mark Greenwood. The cost will be $5.00 per student and can be paid for through QKr. Signed books will be available in the library on the day, and order forms for signed books will also be given out at the end of each session.
Students have completed some wonderfully creative work inspired by the books of Frane & Mark, which will be on display in the library in Week 5 and 6. Parents and students are welcome to come and see these before or after school.
