Year 6 Assembly
On Friday 17 May, class 6L hosted an assembly based on the importance of ‘community’.
Firstly, the class started off with a tremendous interpretation on the book ‘Super Worm’ by Julia Donaldson. The audience all had an entertaining experience and laughed at all the funny costumes and the amazing adventures Super Worm had saving all the garden creatures. The narrators did a fabulous job; expressing their story in an engaging way. The class then sang ‘Lean on Me’ from the film Glee. The song was catchy and delivered the message of the importance of community to all listeners. Shortly after the song, we invited Mrs Blackwell to address the assembly, and after her speech Ms Burrows handed out the swimming certificates earned at the interschool swimming carnival where Kapinara came FIRST out of all participating schools – all because every swimmer gave it their all.
Thankyou to Miss Davies and the students in 6L.

PINK Fundraiser
The School Captains and Councillors have organised a fundraiser to support those in the community with breast cancer. On Thursday 13 June (Week 9) we will be raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
We would like the whole school community to show their support; reflecting Kapinara’s motto of ‘Kindness, consideration and service for others’. We are asking everyone to make a gold coin donation and wear something PINK. This could include pink socks, shoes, headbands, shirts, pants and skirts (just to name a few).
There will also be a stall available where you can pay $1.00 to have one or two PINK streaks sprayed in your hair, with all proceeds going to the NBCF. The canteen will also be selling some PINK food (raspberry muffins and strawberry smoothies).
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing Kapinara become a sea of PINK!

Japanese Anime Day – Movie & Competition
On the first day of Term 2, McGuffin (Ma ku ga fi n) Sensei and the Japanese leadership team consisting of Tayla H, Johnny D, Lachlan B and Ezra F organised and coordinated a lunchtime Japanese animation (a ni me ) movie to celebrate National Anime Day on Monday 15 April. Students from Years 3 to 6 were invited to watch Doraemon whilst eating their lunch.
An animation drawing competition was also running during this time with winners announced at the end of Week 2. There were so many incredible entries from all year levels. After much deliberation the judges chose the best 3 entries from each year level. Copies of the winner’s anime are on display on the pinup board in the main quadrangle.
Anime competition winners were;
Ezra 6H, Sienna 6L and Liesel 6H
Poppy 5ZG, Sofia 5P and Sienna 5ZG
Cooper 4W, Jean 4T and Juan 4T
James 3D, Audrey 3H and Chloe 3D
All student entries were also entered into a raffle for each year level and there were 3 raffle winners for each year level.
There will be a Sumiko Gurashi treasure hunt coming up soon.

Rockapella
We have a lot of very enthusiastic Rockapella members this year! If your child/ren have joined Rockapella, you will have needed to register them through Qkr. If you have not registered them, you will not have been receiving the information emails concerning choir. Mrs Davey thinks there are many more students turning up than are registered!
Yesterday, Monday 20/5 we sent a ‘test email’ to all families who have registered. If you did not receive this email, please jump onto Qkr and do so.
Secondary School Enrolment
Secondary school enrolments are now open for next year until 19 July. If your child starts Year 7 next year, now is the time to apply to enrol. Please be aware enrolment into secondary school is not automatic. It requires you to submit an application with the secondary school of your choice.
