Principal Message

Principal’s Message – November

As we move into the latter part of Term 4, I would like to share some important updates regarding planning for 2026, and thank our community for the thoughtful and collaborative way we continue to work together.

Class Placements for 2026

We are now in the process of planning class structures and placements for next year. At Kapinara, we are committed to creating balanced and supportive learning environments that enable every child to thrive. Our approach to class placements is guided by the School Board-endorsed Class Placement Policy, which is can be accessed here and available on our website.

Parents who wish to share information regarding to their child’s placement are invited to submit requests in writing by Thursday 21 November via this link.

Please note that requests should relate to your child’s learning, social and wellbeing needs.

Class placements for 2026 will be published on Thursday 29 January at 4:00pm.
Students will commence the school year on Monday 2 February, and we ask that they bring their school supplies on the first day.

Pre-primary & Year 1 Parent Information Meeting

As part of our forward planning, I would like to invite all Pre-primary and Year 1 parents to a short information session to discuss class structures for 2026:

Wednesday 12 November – Week 5
2:30–3:00pm
Staffroom

This will be an opportunity to outline our planning for 2026 and answer any questions.

Communication Policy Update

The School Board has recently reviewed and updated our Communication Policy to further strengthen clarity and shared expectations across our school community. The updated policy can be accessed here.

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain positive, respectful, and timely communication between staff, students, and families.

Student Leadership for 2026

This term, we have also finalised our School board endorsed Student Leadership selection process following staff and student consultation. We are pleased to now launch the process for selecting our 2026 student leaders. More information will be shared directly with our Year 5 cohort and families, and we look forward to celebrating student voice, service, and leadership across the school. Access here.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we plan for a successful end to our school year. Kapinara continues to be a community connected by kindness, consideration, and service to others, and it is a privilege to lead this work alongside you.

Warm regards,
Natalie Oddy
Principal | Kapinara Primary School

Mid-Term Snapshot of Activities

Year 6 Camp Adventure at Jarrahfall Bush Camp

In Week 1 of this term, our Year 6 cohort headed to Jarrahfall Bush Camp for a week of adventure, teamwork, and personal growth. From abseiling and kayaking to night walk fun, students embraced every challenge with enthusiasm.

Throughout the week, they lived out our school values — Kindness, Consideration, and Service for Others — by supporting one another, respecting the environment, and building lasting friendships. It was a memorable experience that marked a special milestone in their final year of primary school.

St John Ambulance Incursion

Students took part in a St John Ambulance incursion week 2 of this term, learning basic first aid and emergency response skills. Through hands-on activities, they gained confidence in how to help others in an emergency. It was a valuable and practical learning experience for all.

Year 6 Fair — Creativity, Enterprise, and Community Spirit

This term, our Year 6 students hosted a vibrant Year 6 Fair, transforming the Undercover Area into a bustling marketplace of fun and creativity. Each student-led stall showcased incredible initiative, teamwork, and imagination — from games and challenges to handmade crafts and tasty treats.

The fair was more than just a celebration; it was a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and build their Design & Technology skills. Their efforts brought joy to the school community. A huge congratulations to our Year 6 cohort for their enthusiasm and hard work!

Kapinara School Values in Action

Our Choir Shines at Wembley Downs Fair — A Musical Celebration of Service in Our Community

Our school choir proudly took centre stage at the Wembley Downs Fair, sharing their voices and spirit with the wider community. Through their heartfelt performance, they not only showcased musical talent but also beautifully embodied our core school values — Kindness, Consideration, and Service for Others. From the way they supported one another behind the scenes to the confident way they engaged the audience, our students demonstrated what it truly means to be ambassadors of our school

Demonstrating Consideration for Others – Telethon Fundraiser

At the heart of our school community is the value of consideration for others, and this was proudly demonstrated as our students came together to support the recent Telethon fundraiser. A special mention goes to the Bellini family , whose outstanding efforts helped raise an impressive $19,220.40. Their commitment not only contributed significantly to a worthy cause but also served as a powerful reminder of the empathy, kindness, and community spirit we aim to foster every day. We are incredibly proud of all students who participated and thank them for living out our school values in such a meaningful way.

2025 Kapinara Primary School – Colour Run – Online Fundraiser

Event Details: Friday 12th December at 2pm.

Get ready for the brightest day of the year… the Kapinara Primary School Colour Run! We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Colour Run fundraiser, a vibrant, fun-filled event that brings our entire school community together in support of some exciting initiatives! This year, we’re raising funds to support our school’s very special Value Badges initiative, as well as the purchase of some additional maths resources and individual requests from teachers. These new materials

will directly support your child’s learning and school experience.

How will this fundraiser work? Like most fundraising formats, pupils should register their place via a ticket on QKA as well as create their fundraising link.

Step 1 – purchase a ticket on QKR for $10.

Step 2 – sign up for an individual fundraising link.

How do I sign my child up to fundraise online? Each child should sign up for their very own fundraising web page to send out and collect online sponsorship from anyone, anywhere!

Just go to our Fundraising Hub page at: https://kapinaraprimarycolourrun.goraiseit.com.au/

Or use the QR Code to visit the hub page:

Click on the SETUP A FUNDRAISING PAGE button If you need any help email help@raiseitfundraising.com for direct assistance. Multiple children in your family? No problem, all children can sit under the same email address. You’ll find a button to set up another page while logged in to the fundraising account you created first. Do I have to sign up for an online account to fundraise? We would love everyone to have an online account as this allows the school to significantly reduce administration overheads. Go Raise It adhere to strict cyber safe guidelines and this is built into our fundraising website. If you really do not want an online fundraising page, and still want to participate please check with the school office to see if you can collect cash.

Prizes: We have a great range of fundraising prizes available as well as spot prizes. Please see the Prizes page linked on the Fundraising Hub page of our fundraising website.

Save the date: Our last P&C Meeting for 2025 – Tuesday, 25th November – everyone’s welcome! It’s a great opportunity to connect with fellow Kapinara families and be part of our vibrant school community. We are looking to gauge interest for our 2026 committee – President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Without these key roles allocated at our AGM (usually scheduled for week 7 of Term 1) our P&C efforts cannot continue for another year. Our remaining funds would also be distributed to neighbouring schools – when we have so much to achieve here at Kapinara – we need your help!

Our current members (listed below) are happy to chat about each role and their responsibilities, just reach out in person or via kapinarafamilies@gmail.com

See you at our next meeting!

Katie Voss (Kindy & Y2 parent) – President

Kelli Bair (PP & Y2 parent) – Vice President

Aly Blackburn (Y1 & Y3 parent) – Secretary

Justin Baker (Y2 parent) – Treasurer
