ICAS Assessments Years 2-6

Dear Parents

We are pleased to offer the University of New South Wales International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) next term. These are separate to our school assessments and are optional for students in Years 2 – 6. We continue to make these available as they appear to be valued by our community, however, they are not something we are asking for your children to participate in. They are good for students who enjoy a challenge and you may wish to check with your child’s teacher before nominating for a particular assessment.

What are the ICAS Assessments?

The ICAS Assessments are online assessments, designed to recognise academic excellence. Students are assessed on their ability to apply classroom learning to new contexts using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. Further information can be found here: ICAS Assessments

 Important to Note

We will organise and facilitate the sessions. However, it is the responsibility of parents to make a note of the relevant times for registering, paying for and sitting the assessments.

In recent years, we have scheduled ICAS assessments before school to minimise disruptions to teaching and learning programs and this will continue for the English and Mathematics assessments this year. However, to manage the schedule during Book Week, we plan to trial students completing the Science and Spelling Bee assessments during the school day. We will endeavour to avoid clashes with PEAC and Instrumental Music programs.

The last date for registration and payment is set so that, as a school, we can organise the appropriate dates and spaces for the testing based on how many students are registered.
This date is final, please be aware that we are unable to accept registrations after 4 August 2021.
