Principals Message
Dear Kapinara Community,
I hope you are all enjoying a positive and productive start to the year.
School Closure for Parent-Teacher Interviews
Kapinara Primary School will be closing at 12:00 pm on Thursday, 27 March to facilitate our Parent-Teacher Interviews. These meetings are a vital opportunity for teachers and parents to connect, discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and set goals for future learning. Strong communication between home and school plays an essential role in ensuring every child reaches their potential. We appreciate your support and engagement in this process.
Kapinara’s Commitment to Teaching Excellence
I am also pleased to share that Kapinara has commenced its journey in the Quality Teaching Strategy: Leading Cultures of Teaching Excellence. This initiative will support our school in further strengthening teaching practices, with a clear focus on improving student outcomes. A key component of this is the launch of our Middle Leadership Program, designed to enhance collaboration and build the capacity of our teaching team. We are excited about the positive impact this will have on student learning.
I warm reminder for the upcoming “Community Catch Up” coffee morning with myself next Thursday after school drop-off. Light refreshments will be provided, and it will be a great chance to connect and chat informally. I look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to foster excellence at Kapinara.
Warm regards,
Natalie Oddy

Introducing Deputy Principal – Sonya Orford

Passionate about education and equality for all, I am delighted to be joining Kapinara Primary School to support the amazing staff and students we have here in City Beach. I support the Early Childhood sector of the school (K-2), however support all students, all the time.
My career in teaching thus far has seen me travel throughout the state of WA for over 30 years now. Adventuring from Kalgoorlie to Broome and the Cocos Keeling Islands, I have worked with several close-knit communities and really enjoyed the diverse nature of the towns and people I have had the pleasure of getting to know.
I have been made to feel very welcome here at Kapinara Primary School and thank you for your warmth and welcome as a community.

Expressions of Interest – After School Club

We are exploring the possibility of starting a new after-school club, the Young Engineers Club, to commence in Term 2. To help us determine interest, please review the background information provided.
If you would like your child to participate, kindly complete the Expression of Interest Survey [here]. Detailed information about costs can be found on page 4 of the Background Information.
Bike Safety
A reminder to all parents/caregivers of students who ride their bikes to school about the importance of following road safety rules, especially when traveling to and from school. One of the areas of concern is around Tilton Park, particularly at the intersection with Empire Ave.
To help ensure the safety of all students, please remind your child to follow these important guidelines:
- Use the designated path to the entrance on Catesby St when arriving at school.
- Disembark at the top of the path and walk their bike to the bike racks.
- At the end of the day, walk their bike back up the path (please avoid using the grassed bank near the playground).
There are also some great resources online that help remind children about road safety. This video, aimed specifically at children, could be a helpful tool to share with your child/ren.
By reinforcing these simple habits, we can all work together to keep our Kapinara students safe while they enjoy riding to school. Thank you for your support.
Harmony Day Reminder
Friday 21 March is Harmony Day, we encourage students to celebrate cultural diversity by wearing traditional attire representing their heritage or something orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, to show support for inclusiveness and mutual respect for all Australians.
Please note we are endeavouring to take a whole school photo, children with individual image restrictions will not be included.
School Reports
We continue to receive a high number of requests every week to regenerate and resend School Reports and NAPLAN reports.
As it is quite time consuming, any requests received will now be processed in bulk during Week 3 of each term.
We would like to remind families that these reports are essential for High School applications. Please ensure that future reports are downloaded, saved, or printed before the report links expire.
Thank you for your support with this matter.
