Principals Message

This term, the Department’s Public School Review Team conducted a follow-up review, focusing on the domains of:
- Relationships and Partnerships
- Learning Environment
- Leadership
I am delighted to share that Kapinara Primary School has demonstrated sufficient and sustainable progress in all three domains. The formal review document is now available on our school website and can also be accessed by clicking HERE.
The review highlighted the significantly strengthened collective efficacy among staff, marked by a shared commitment to ongoing school improvement. It also acknowledged the positive cultural shift attributed to the school’s openness to feedback and the meaningful opportunities provided for community engagement.
I would like to sincerely thank Kapinara’s dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly over the past 12 months to implement new initiatives and drive improvement. A sincere thank you also goes to our School Board for their proactive contributions and steadfast support of the school’s efforts.
Kapinara is a truly special, community-oriented school with exceptional students, and we are all fortunate to be part of this vibrant community. The review serves as a wonderful reflection of this shared commitment and achievement.

Playgroup News & Notes

Earlier this term, we hosted our very first Playgroup session, supported by Playgroup WA and led by one of our wonderful Kindy parents, Denise. Once the word spread, we were inundated with interest, and our first open day was absolutely bustling with families. It was such a joy to see!
We were delighted to see some familiar faces, meet younger siblings of our students, welcomed new families to our school community, and even hear an ex-student share fond memories of her time at Kapinara and some of our long-standing staff members.
It’s been an incredible start, and we’re so excited to see this group grow even further!
If you’d like to join, we’d love to see you this Friday, 22 November, at 9am. It’s a great chance to meet other families in our community while your little ones make new friends and have lots of fun.
Stay connected by joining the Kapinara Primary School Playgroup Facebook group, or email us at kapinaraplaygroup@gmail.com if you have any questions.
We look forward to seeing you there.
End Of Year Concert
We are excited to announce that the students of Kapinara Primary School will be hosting our annual End-of-Year Concert!
This year’s theme is Mixed Tape Magic, and we can’t wait to share some of your favourite songs with you. Students from Kindy to Year 6, along with our Orchestra and Rockapella groups, will perform a selection of our beloved songs to create a Mix Tape just for you.
Please bring a picnic rug, pack a picnic, and don’t forget your singing voices, and join us for this fun and joyful concert.

Fishy Business with Mrs Chipps
Our students have been diving into the fascinating world of biological sciences, focusing on living things. Recently, they have been studying seahorses and honing their inquiry skills by exploring questions and comparing observations.
To tackle the question, “Why are seahorses considered fish?” students first drew what they believed were the features of fish. They then studied an actual fish and redrew their pictures based on their observations. Willow said “The fins were different to how I expected and a few of the fins keep the fish’s balance and help it to turn”. Charlotte said “My first fish didn’t look like the real fish, I thought the gills were small but they were big”
Students then completed a detailed comparison between seahorses and fish. Kai told us that “seahorses are like fish because they both have fins and gills” but Chloe added “seahorses tails are different to other fish’s tails”.
Here are some pictures showcasing their learning journey:
