Principal’s Message

Dear Kapinara Families,

We are thrilled to congratulate all the students who participated in the Town of Cambridge Art Exhibition. A special mention goes to Florian (PP) and Ines (Year 2) for receiving High Commendations for their outstanding work.

Today, our Year 6 students hosted the highly anticipated Year 6 Fair. Working in groups, they developed business strategies, creating either goods or service-based business models. After extensive planning and research, they brought their ideas to life through a diverse range of stalls, which were a hit with both students and staff this morning. I’d like to extend a special thank you to the Year 6 teachers, Ms Lund and Mr Hodgson, for their dedication in planning and preparing the unit of work. They went above and beyond, giving much of their own time to support the students in their preparations. The impressive list of Year 6 businesses included: Nerf Shooting Range, Ping Pong Paradise, Fortune of the Wheel, Sizzle Sell, Roll n Dip, Snap Shot, Panwhiches, Shoot a Mole, Hook a Duck, Just Juices, The Fridge, Midnight Cookies, Shake it Up, Sugar Rush, and Pizza-nara.

Last week, we bid farewell to Mr. Dewar, who has accepted an exciting new work opportunity. Mr. Dewar has been an integral part of the Kapinara community for the past 10 years, starting as a parent and transitioning into roles such as Gardner and IT Manager. He has overseen the school’s IT needs, collaborated with our Year 6 ‘Techie’ leaders, and even found time to mark the oval for our faction carnivals. Mr. Dewar’s contributions have been invaluable, and he will be greatly missed. We wish him all the best in his new role.

As we begin planning for the 2025 school year, we kindly ask that any families who will not be attending Kapinara in 2025 inform our office staff via email or phone. Your timely communication will greatly assist us in our preparations.

To finish, I am delighted to continue as Acting Principal for Term 4 and feel privileged to have the opportunity to further work with our incredible community of students, staff, and families. For more information on this process, please refer to the message from our School Board Chair, Felicity Maher, included in this Newsfeed.

Wishing you all a fabulous week ahead,

Kylie Reeves

Message from the School Board

Kylie Reeves will continue in the principal position next term. Due to unanticipated circumstances, a substantive principal has not been appointed at this stage. The position will be advertised next term, for a substantive principal to start in the 2025 school year. I thank Kylie for the job she is doing as Acting Principal.

Town of Cambridge Schools Art Exhibition

On Wednesday 4 September, Mrs Barton and 16 Kapinara students, whose artwork had been chosen, attended the Town Of Cambridge Local Schools Art Exhibition Opening and Awards Ceremony at The Boulevarde Floreat. We were thrilled to show our families our work displayed alongside our peers from approximately 8 other schools. All artworks were judged by a panel of artists and awards were handed out for each year level.

Ines (Year 2) and Florian (PP) received High Commendation awards for their creative and artistic designs. We were so proud of them!

All artworks will be displayed at the Floreat Forum Shopping Centre from Thursday 5th September to Friday 12th September. If you have the chance, please get down and see all of our amazing artwork.

Sandover Medallist

Joint Sandover Medal Winners were announced last night in a thrilling count ending in a tie. One of the 2024 winners was Callan England from Claremont Football Club. Callan attended Kapinara PS for seven years together with his siblings. No guesses as to who was our Champion Boy at the sports carnivals! Congratulations Callan, an amazing achievement!

P&C Crazy Camel Fundraiser

Students are busy creating beautiful artwork that can be turned into precious keepsakes families will love. From October 9th through to October 23rd, parents will be able to order greeting cards, calendars, diaries, notebooks, sketchbooks, pillow cases, tea towels or tote bags featuring your child’s artwork as part of the Crazy Camel Fundraiser for our wonderful school. Samples of the products are in the front office.

Australian Girls Choir Workshop

Kapinara will once again host an assessment workshop for the AGC. The workshop includes singing and movement activities and is designed to be a fun and positive experience.

The workshop will be held at lunchtime on Wednesday 18 September (Athletics Club will have concluded). It will run for approximately 30 minutes and each registered student will receive an encouraging written report following the workshop.

Register for the workshop online at ausgirlschoir.com.au/schoolworkshop

Kindy 2025

As we finalise our Kindy numbers for 2025, we have a couple of positions still available. If you know of anyone in the local area who has not yet applied, please ask them to make contact with us.
