National Ride2School Day

Thanks for participating in National Ride2School Day

The sun has set on another National Ride2School Day and what a day it was!

Kapinara Primary School was one of 575 schools and more than 240,000 students who got involved across Australia, showing their love for active travel by riding, walking, scooting, or skating to school.

Thank you to the Town of Cambridge for donating $200 to support this event and Mrs Little, the P&C Sustainability Representative, for helping us make and serve a scrumptious, healthy breakfast.

The Sustainability Team surveyed the children in Pre-primary to Year 6 to find out how they got to school before this event and then again on Friday.

There was a 22% increase in the number of people chose more sustainable ways of getting to school on Ride2School Day. But Ride2School is more than just a day, it’s a year-round initiative that kick starts healthy habits for life. So, let’s be the change for a more sustainable future.

Styne Road – Wednesday 27 March

One of our neighbours as a courtesy, have let us know that there will be an event at their home on Styne Road where guests will be arriving from 2.30pm on Wednesday. Guests will be informed regarding where to park ie not on the house side of the street or preferred parking around the corner. Please keep this in mind during Wednesday pickup, that there will be increased traffic and potential parking issues. If you are able to avoid parking on Styne Road on this day, it will be very helpful.

New Activity! Before School Maths Club

Maths club will be held Tuesday mornings, 7:30-8:30 in Room 2, starting Week 2.

Maths club is designed for Years 1-3 students who really love maths and would enjoy working together to solve problems. It will not cover much, if any, of the school maths curriculum. The focus will be on abstract thinking, group work and sorting information in order to get to the answer. Also trivial maths-related activities like memorising the digits of pi or solving a rubik’s cube. Students will be expected to be able to read questions.

Maths club will be run by Emma Tomkinson, a Kapinara parent and maths specialist.  Spaces will be limited to the first 20 students. The cost is $30 for the term. Register through mathsgang.org and you will then be forwarded a link for payment. Payment is not available through Qkr.
