School Hours & Attendance

Arrival at School

Students should not arrive at school before 8:30am unless they are participating in a supervised before-school activity. Children who arrive early must sit in the Undercover area with their bags until 8:30am.

All students should be on the school grounds by 8:40am.
Students arriving after 8:45am must report to the front office to obtain a late card before going to class.

Absentees

All student absences can be recorded through the Compass App.

Full Day Absences If your child will be absent for the entire day, please notify the school through Compass and include the reason for the absence

Appointments / Partial Absences  If your child will be arriving late or leaving early for an appointment, please record a partial absence in Compass and include the relevant time (e.g. arriving at 10:30am).

A parent or carer must still sign the student out at the front office using the Passtab device to ensure we have an accurate record of who is on the school premises in case of an emergency. Office staff will sign the student back in when they return.

Both absentees come through to Admin and are forwarded onto your child’s teacher/s.

Unexplained Absences- If we have not received an absence notification through Compass by 10:00am and your child is absent, an SMS will be sent to alert you. Please reply to the message with the reason for the absence.

Kiss & Drive

To help ensure a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up process, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Always join the end of the queue.
  • Move your car forward to the loading area, ensuring there are no gaps between vehicles.
  • Adults must remain in their vehicles during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Children should exit the car on the path side only, never onto the road.
  • Ensure children have their school bags within easy reach to allow quick loading and unloading (e.g. at their feet or on the front seat, not in the boot).
  • Exit the Kiss and Drive zone promptly once your child has safely entered or exited the vehicle.

Please also observe the following safety rules:

  • Do not pull into driveways to reverse or change direction.
  • Do not perform U-turns in the streets surrounding the school.

Communications

Compass

Compass is the school’s main platform for communication with families. Through the Compass app, parents and carers can access important school information and manage many aspects of their child’s school life.

Families will receive updates and notifications through Compass, including:

  • School notices and general communications
  • School timetables and calendars
  • Incursion and excursion information and permissions
  • Student behaviour and wellbeing notifications
  • Student absences and attendance

Our school website will continue to provide general information, news and key updates for the school community.

Parent meetings

Parents wishing to discuss their child’s progress are asked to make an appointment with the class teacher. If you have concerns relating to classroom matters, the school protocol is to discuss these with the class teacher in the first instance. Teachers will also contact parents if they would like to arrange a meeting to discuss a student’s progress.

To support staff in preparing for the school day and supervising students, please avoid approaching teachers when they are preparing lessons before school, engaged in classroom duties, or attending meetings.

All staff can be contacted via email, which is the easiest way to arrange a suitable time to meet.
