Welcome to Kapinara Primary School; a Western Australian government school with a strong community culture and a proud tradition in academic, musical, artistic and sporting arenas.
The school motto of “Kindness, consideration and service for others”, is the foundation of the school’s positive, respectful and caring environment in which every child’s contribution is valued. Kapinara operates a number of programs designed to assist students feel connected to their school and community. We strive to provide opportunities for students to achieve their best across all domains, develop respect for themselves and others, and encourage a social, civic and environmental responsibility. .
Kapinara offers education programs from Kindergarten to Year 6 all on one site. In addition to general classrooms, we enjoy specialist library, art, music and computer facilities, with the added bonus of two sports ovals overlooking the Indian Ocean. Additional programs are offered for gifted and talented students in science, maths, art and music, with identified students in Year 5 – 6 able to participate in extension classes through PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge). Students who require additional support are provided with individualised and specifically designed programs.
Complementing strong academic performances in external assessments such as NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) and ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) run by the University of New South Wales, Kapinara is well respected for a commitment to developing the sporting, artistic and musical talents of our students. The curriculum is complemented by additional programs which include after school and in school swimming, after school sport, interschool sport, choir (boys and girls), orchestra, whole school concerts and art displays and competitions.
Our professional learning community includes a staff of dedicated, skilled educators, committed to ongoing improvement in teaching, learning and leadership. Teaching staff are well supported by a team of enthusiastic education assistants, office and auxiliary staff, and a vibrant parent and community body.
I look forward to welcoming you to the Kapinara school community.
