Dear Families – it’s amazing how fast the term is flying by already! And with the busyness of term time comes a whole raft of updates – we hope you find them useful!
CANTEEN CLOSED THIS FRIDAY (05/11/2021)
A final reminder that the canteen will be closed on Friday. The Canteen team have contacted anyone who previously placed an order for Friday to ensure it is cancelled. Please make sure that you are able to provide lunch for your children on Friday.
The Canteen will resume regular operations on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week as usual. Volunteers are always needed to ensure we can supply a full service on all three days – please sign up whenever you can at https://signup.com/go/YqbPQZo
UNIFORM SHOP CLOSED THIS THURSDAY (04/11/2021)
The Uniform Shop will be closed this Thursday, but open as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays from next week onwards. Orders can be placed online via the form available on the school website and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Our new Garden Club initiative is well under way, with thanks to Melanie Capper and Anke Woodland. While it started as an activity for the Pre-Primary kids and parents, they’d like to extend an invitation to anyone across the school community to work in the garden with them. They meet every second Monday morning at 8am in the school vegetable garden (outside the Pre-Primary classrooms). Upcoming dates are:
- Monday 15 November
- Monday 29 November
- Monday 13 December
LAST P&C MEETING FOR 2021 – ALL WELCOME (+ wine and cheese and nibbles 🙂
Tuesday 23 November (week 7)will be our last P&C meeting for 2021, at 7pm in the staff room. If you’ve been wondering what it’s all about, it’s a great chance to say hello, find out more about what we do and how we’re working to help the school on behalf of the whole community across a range of initiatives – from running the Canteen and Uniform Shop, to fundraising and planning for new green spaces around the school, as well as the very necessary support for STEM, literacy, music and sports activities and so much more. Being the last meeting, there’ll be nothing too onerous for discussion except fine tuning plans for the End of Year concert and brainstorming ideas for our 2022 Sundowner (welcome back to the new school year) event, and we’ll be toasting the end of 2021.
SPECIFIC SKILL-SETS NEEDED
For 2022, the P&C will be moving to trial a committee-focused approach to the business of supporting the school and all the families that comprise our community. What this will mean is less of a year-long commitment for an individual to attend all the P&C meetings all the time (which we know are at a time that won’t suit everyone), and more of a focus on connecting people with specific skills and interests (from fundraising, to gardening, and finance) to work alongside small groups of like-minded people at a time that better suits them. The only set commitment will be to have at least one representative from each of these sub committees attend our twice-a-term meetings and provide updates as required. Another new initiative we’ll be rolling out for 2022 will be the option to join our P&C meetings via Zoom if in-person attendance isn’t possible.
If you’re interested in finding out more, drop us a line at email@example.com – or better still, come to our next (and last!) meeting on 23 November!
