Dear Parents and Carers

We trust that everyone has had a happy and successful term and a strong, positive start to the school 2021 year. I hope your family will have an opportunity to have a short but relaxing break from the routines associated with the school week. While this term has ended up being only eight weeks long, next term is eleven, so hopefully everyone will return rested and rejuvenated.

Tomorrow our Interschool swimming team will participate in the interschool swimming carnival at HBF Stadium. I’d like to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of so many, who have attended either our Swim Squad or another, and who have been working hard to strengthen their swimming skills further. Congratulations to all of you, and very best wishes to those who will represent Kapinara at the carnival tomorrow. Do your best, take pride in representing your school and enjoy the day! Huge thanks to Ms Burrows, Mr Hodgson and the parents in our school community who have turned out to coach and encourage those at Swim Squad throughout the term.

At the end of this week we reluctantly farewell half of the ‘Gail Preston and Sarah Bengough front office team’. This has been a remarkable partnership for many, many years and I can’t tell you how much these ladies support all of us. Sarah has accepted an offer to take on a School Officer role at another public school, commencing in Term 2. At the moment she is excited by the prospect of being able to walk to work … we’ll see how she’s feeling in the middle of winter 😉  On behalf of the students, staff and school community I thank Sarah for her years of service at Kapinara and for helping to make our lives a little cheerier. We wish her every happiness and success at her new school.

This week we also farewelled Sally Dorrington, one of our long standing cleaners. You may not have seen her around for a while, as she has been on leave, but she has now officially retired. We trust that she will continue to enjoy spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be grateful to no longer set an alarm for 4:30am. Thank you for your work behind the scenes Sally 🙂

Take care everyone. We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 19 April 2021.

PS The survey will remain open until the end of this week, and we invite you to respond if you haven’t had an opportunity to do so yet.

Best wishes
Elizabeth Blackwell
