Interschool Cross Country Event – June 2021

The Interschool cross-country competition hosted by City Beach Primary School at City Beach Oval took place on Wednesday 23rd July. The weather was very kind to us and we had a great day of running with ten schools competing.

We had some very impressive individual performances, with a Kapinara student on the podium from every year group. All students displayed great sportsmanship towards their fellow competitors and really did perform and support each other as a team. We are also very proud of the way in which our students have shown determination and commitment towards training and competing.

We would particularly like to highlight the achievements of the following students who came 1st and 2nd in their events. Congratulations to Billie Mc who placed 1st in the Year 3 Girls event; Xavier M who placed 1st  in the Year 4 Boys event; Meg W placed 2nd  in the Year 5 Girls event; and Chelsea H placed 2nd in the Year 6 Girls event. Christopher D placed 3rd in the nail-biting Year 6 Boys event, setting an amazing pace of 3.46 min/km in the 2km race.

We would also like to make special mention of Harper T who finished 6th in the Year 4 Girls event; Milla T who placed 6th and Mila G who placed 9th in the Year 6 Girls event. Further, the remainder of the Year 6 Girls team Victoria P, Mackenzie D, Damarys T, Audrey L and Georgia T, all finished within the top 25 Year 6 girls. The team work these girls displayed was phenomenal, setting a great example to younger students.

We are extremely proud to have finished runners-up … missing out on the top spot by only a few points! Collectively our students out-performed much larger schools (schools with over 700, 800 and 900 students) to earn us second place overall.

We would like to thank the Staff and Parents at City Beach Primary School for hosting such a great event and also say a big thank you to parents and carers who came to support the students.
