Author Visit Incursion and Bookweek Parade

The Children’s Book Council theme for Bookweek is ‘New Worlds, Old Worlds, Other Worlds’ and we are looking forward to celebrating Bookweek in many different ways at Kapinara this year.
Monday 23 August – Year 1-3 students will participate in a workshop with author/illustrator Kylie Howath
Wednesday 25 August – Year 4-6 students will work with illustrator Aska
Friday 27 August –  PP students will have a session with author/illustrator Kitty Black
Friday 27 August – Year 5PM Assembly and PP-6 Bookweek Parade

On Friday 27 August, during the Year 5PM assembly, we will hold a ‘Bookweek Parade’. We would love students to dress up as something inspired by the Bookweek theme or their favourite book character. This is not a competition and students are encouraged to create their own imaginative costume!
Classes have been looking at the books shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council and their responses to these books will be display in the library from Week 6. Happy Reading!

Mental Health First Aid Course

Christine Tonkin MLA, Member for Churchlands has invited a representative from the Kapinara community to attend a 12 hour program held over two days on the weekend of 14/15 August. The course is designed to give attendees the skills to identify the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and information on how to provide help. It is an education course, not a therapy or support group and a Certificate of Accreditation is provided. Places in this course is limited. If anyone is interested in attending, please contact the office and we can submit your details. They will also accept ‘standbys’ if more than one person is interested.
