Canteen changes

After discussion with the school, the P&C have decided to commence a reduced canteen service commencing from tomorrow.
The aim is to reduce the numbers of adults on the school site, while supporting families by having recess and lunch options available for students.
There will be no volunteers working at canteen from tomorrow, which we will review next term. A huge thank you to all those volunteers who did sign up and we will call on you again for help at a future time.

The menu will have:
Recess– options of apple slinkys, apple berry muffins, chocolate muffins, drinks, fruit straps and vege chips
Lunch: Option of macaroni cheese, fried rice (with chicken, egg and veges), sausage rolls, meat pies, party pies plus all sushi. Lunch snack of quelch icy poles only.

For tomorrow only, there will be pizzas available at lunch in a limited number to use up perishable ingredients.

P&C News Week 4



The Annual Kapinara Sundowner held on Friday was again great success (despite the threat of rain) and a fun night was had by all. A huge thanks to those kind parents who volunteered on the night to assist with the sausage sizzle and selling glow products; we could not have done it without you.

Photo Day

School photos are currently underway today and tomorrow. It’s not too late to order individual and class photos (the deadline for sibling photos has passed); however the school code included in the School newsletter was incorrect. The correct code to use is 4CDWQV. Order and pay online at www.kapture.com.au

Parent Reps Urgently Required: 5LJ and 5/6S

We are still searching for parents to serve as Class Admin Reps for 5LJ and 5/6S. While not too time-intensive over the course of the year, this is is a very important role which enables the P&C  to communicate with your class regarding the canteen roster and changes to canteen opening times, uniform shop, cake stalls, Sundowner/Quiz Night and other fundraising events as well as supporting the teacher in communicating updates and reminders to parents. If you are able to volunteer for either class please reply to this email.

Canteen News – HELP NEEDED

Help is required urgently in the Canteen for next week as Class 1/2TB are yet to provide volunteers for Tuesday 3 March. If no volunteers are found the canteen will not open that day. If you can assist please sign up at https://signup.com/go/rwQeVkc

Year 6 Cake Stall

Our first cake stall fundraiser of the year will be run by year 6 parents on Friday 6 March at 3pm in the main quadrangle. Please bring your coins and small notes to help the P&C continue to support the school and our children.


The P&C AGM was held last Tuesday and saw the end of an era with long serving President Nic Schmidt and Vice President Naomi Taylor stepping down. We thank them so much for their incredible contributions to the P&C and the Kapinara Primary School community. Elections were held on the night and the following members were elected uncontested:

  • Vice-President – Kym Szwedzicki
  • Treasurer – Anna Larson
  • Secretary – Natasha Brindal and Rebecca Garvey

Kapinara Winter netball 2020

Final calls for girls and boys interested in playing Friday afternoon/evening netball. Teams need to be finalised by March 3rd, so numbers need to be in to determine teams. We play under the Kapinara name but are parent lead and run.

We would be keen to get another 4 students in yr 2, to create 2 full teams with subs.

We have a full yr 5 team but depending on interest we could create another team if numbers exist.

Churchlands High School Tours

Before School Tennis at Kapinara PS Term 1 2020

Coastal Tennis will be returning in Term 1 to offer Tennis Lessons on the schools court. Lessons are conducted on Friday morning 7.45-8.30am (All Years) starting week 2 of Term 1 and running for 8 weeks.

Kapinara mixed netball teams Winter 2020.
All students from yr2-6 are invited to play Friday afternoon netball as a Kapinara team. Games are played at Matthews Centre, Jolimont.

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie charity screening.

There is a screening of the brand new Sonic movie on Sunday 16th February at Warwick Cinemas. Please come along to watch this family movie and raise money for sick, disabled and underprivileged kids. We have new menu. New additions to the menu include a Bento Box, hummus spread, watermelon cups, berry smoothies and yoghurt cups to help on those hot days. Hot food snacks will return for the winter menu. Thank you.






P&C News Week One

Canteen Roster:

To assist the volunteer requirements of the P&C Canteen, each class group from PP to Year 6 is allocated three or four weeks per year. We ask that eight parents from each class group volunteer in the Canteen during the allocated week (4 half shifts on Tuesday and 4 half shifts on Thursday). This system enables parents to enjoy a shift in the Canteen with fellow class parents. Parents are also welcome to volunteer on any day that suits, even if it is not in their allocated week. Canteen volunteers are always welcome!

We cannot run the canteen without the help of our volunteers. Each class needs to have all shifts filled by Friday morning the week prior to their allocated canteen week. If shifts are not all filled for the week, the canteen closes on those days. You are welcome to volunteer even if it is not your allocated week for your child’s class, we really do appreciate the help the canteen receives from volunteers and can’t run it without you!

Parent Reps Needed!

Please consider supporting the P&C by volunteering as a Parent Representative for your child’s class or year. It doesn’t take a huge amount of time, and it’s a great way of getting to know other families. Sign up sheets will be up in the main quad from Monday. There are two types of Parent Rep required, and guidance will be provided. Contact kapinarafamilies@gmail.comwith any questions.

  1. Admin Rep for your class (1 per class): Review and keep your class contact list updated (starter list provided by the P&C – this is used for all P&C communications for events such as the Sundowner and Quiz Night as well as canteen and uniform shop); help co-ordinate volunteers when your class is rostered on canteen (2-3x year) + cake stall fundraiser (1x year); share reminders from your teacher as required.
  2. Social Rep (1-2 per year group): Plan a few social events to keep your year group connected and engaged – as simple as icy poles after school.

The P&C AGM is on Tuesday 18th February at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Thank you to all our helpers on Arts Night, and to all the families that supported the event and enjoyed the evening. Thank you to our Arts Teacher Anna Trovarelli for all her hard work for this event.

St Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal: A reminder that Year 3H and 3FJ are promoting a collection for the St Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal. Non- perishable will be collected from classrooms each morning or can be left in the blue bin in the front office.

A reminder that the Year 6 Fair will be held next Wednesday, children can bring a small amount of money to take part in activities. A sausage sizzle pre -order form is in the front office and is due back by this Friday for the Fair.

Choir Uniforms Returns

It’s time to return your hired uniforms so we can collect items and then process your refund.
PLEASE drop your hired items with a small NOTE of your NAME and ITEMS returned into the box at the front office. Any extra donations you may have (eg. shoes) will be appreciated to share around next year.

2020 Pre Primary uniforms

The uniform shop will be opened for a special 2020 Pre Primary students only afternoon. Uniforms will be available to be purchased and ordered after the PP parent/teacher meeting on the 27th November. Shop will be opened after school 3-3.45. Uniforms can be purchased at anytime on usual opening hours Tuesdays and Thursdays 8.30-9am.

Second hand stock

We always have a moving range of second hand stock. Come have a look for something to help reuse and recycling. We are happy to recieve all reasonable outgrown uniforms. All funds go towards the school P&C.

Arts Night– next Thursday 14th Nov!! There will be food and drinks to purchase on the night. Family sculpture entries are a fantastic way to get involved. Hope to see everyone there.

Mulch busy bee– the mulch on the bottom oval is needing to be spread on the slope area and the P&C are asking for volunteers to sign up for a busy bee next Sunday 17th Nov 3-5pm. The more volunteers we have, the quicker the job will be. Please sign up when the link is sent out. Volunteers will need to bring wheelbarrows, pitchforks or shovels to use.

Cotton shirts are still an option for those wishing to order some.

The uniform shop is asking for donations of any old school bags and clothes to go to an overseas charity.

2020 P&C positions– please consider nominating for a position on the P&C in 2020. After many years and a huge amount of hard work, support and coordinating of events, Nic Schmidt (President) and Naomi Taylor (Vice President) will be stepping down from their roles at the end of this year. The P&C would like to thank these ladies for their fabulous contribution which has benefited the school community and our children so much. Office bearers are needed so please come along to the next P&C meeting on 26th November to find out what plans and activities you could get involved in. Please also consider nominating for class rep positions in 2020 so that these positions are filled early in the school year.

Sport news

Soccer is being run at Kapinara oval before school from 7.30-8.30 in Term 4, 21st October till 2nd December. Miss Burrows has kindly organised this opportunity for children from Kindy-Year 6. See attachment below for details.

Volleyball free skills training being held on the upper oval on Tuesday afternoons for 3 more weeks.

Faction carnival

A big thank you to all the parents who assisted in the events and those who cheered and supported the students. Also thank you to all the kind parents who baked goods and assisted at the P&C stall, your help was greatly appreciated and helped raise over $800 🙂


Congratulations to Jade Arnold Eyer’s (Year 5) whose band has been asked to play at the WAM Fest in November to showcase the top 100 bands in WA.

They have also been shortlisted to play on Telethon! and have been airing on Triple J, Rage and RTR stations. Check them out


Quiz night 

A big thank you to all those who attended and supported the Kapinara Quiz night, we hope you had as much fun as we did. The night raised approx $7000!!! for our school and kids.
