P&C News 20.10.21

Hi everyone, and welcome back to Term 4!  Always jam-packed, and already one week in…

Hopefully you will already have heard from your class reps or seen a poster around the school – we are kicking off our fundraising efforts in Term 4 with an egg drive from the organic and free-range supplier Levi’s Eggs. For every tray of 30 eggs sold, Levi’s Eggs are donating $4 to our school to help improve our grounds and services.

FARM FRESH & FREE RANGE
$20 per tray of 30 EGGS

Order Form

Payment via Qkr, EFTPOS at the uniform shop on Thursday, or Friday morning at the front of the school. If using cash, please place the correct money in the drawers at the office.

We encourage you to place an order for your families, friends or neighbours. As the eggs are farm fresh, they last up to 6 weeks in the fridge and every egg sold helps Kapinara P&C. Attached is a form for orders, which should be returned to the Front Office by October 22.

Eggs will be available for pick up on Wednesday 27 October at 3pm and again at 8:30am on Thursday 28 October in the quadrangle.

Thank you for your support! It is greatly appreciated.

P&C News 18.7.21

Hello to all our families, and welcome back to Term 3. We hope you’ve enjoyed a safe, healthy and relaxing school holidays ??? and look forward to seeing everyone back at school this week.

Canteen Updates: Now WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY each week

We hope you’ve seen the previous updates, but if not – our canteen opening days have changed for Term 3. We’ll now be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays instead of Tuesdays and Thursdays, effective immediately, starting this week. As you may have heard, we made this change in response to feedback from the parent survey conducted by the school in term 2, which indicated that parents would be more likely to volunteer in the canteen if it was open on different days. So that’s what we’ve done ?

Unfortunately, we as yet have NO VOLUNTEERS for weeks 1, 2 or 3 which will potentially mean we have to limit our food offerings or not open at all 🙁 If you can help – any week, on any of our opening days – you will be welcomed with open arms! We have 2x shifts available each opening day – 8:45am-10:45am, and 10:45am-1pm, and need 2x volunteers per shift. If you can do one shift, your kids will get a free recess; if you do both shifts on one day, your kids will get a free lunch.

The Canteen Sign-Up for Term 3 is available at https://signup.com/go/YqbPQZo

Week 1 (w/c 19 July) – class 3/4D
Week 2 (w/c 26 July) – class 6L
Week 3 (w/c 2 August) – class 1T
Week 4 (w/c 9 August) – class 5P
Week 5 (w/c 16 August) – class 2JJ
Week 6 (w/c 23 August) – class PP2
Week 7 (w/c 30 August) – class 4BH
Week 8 (w/c 6 September) – class PP1
Week 9 (w/c/ 13 September) – class 6D
Week 10 (w/c 20 September) – class 2S

Canteen Refurbishment Works starting soon

The P&C is grateful for all the support from our community for our fundraising activities so far this year which means that we’re at last able to invest in some long overdue infrastructure upgrades in the Canteen. Starting in early August, we’ll be installing new fridges and freezers, a new larger oven, and generally making the most of the space we have to hand. These days we’re serving more than 200 recesses and also lunches a day, far more than the current kitchen space was designed to cope with. While we can’t make the space any bigger, we can make it work more efficiently. A huge thanks to canteen manager Kirsten Piccinini and Mel Capper from our P&C for researching what was needed, as well as the school for helping us secure the best deals we could. Stay tuned for updates and photos coming soon!

Uniform Shop – Back to regular opening times

The Uniform Shop is back to it’s usual opening days and times, Tuesdays and Thursdays before school from 8:30am-9am. Electronic orders can be placed at any time by downloading the order form at http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/parent-information/dress-code/ and emailing kapinara.uniform@gmail.com

Due to popular demand, we had sold out of size 8 and 10 long sleeve polo shirts at the end of last term. More stock is expected to arrive this week – check with the Uniform Shop for further information and we’ll provide updates when we can.

SAVE THE DATE – Friday 10 September

Save the date, save the date, all we know is we can’t wait!

Friday night, 10 September 2021 from 7pm until late – save the date for our next big event. Is it a quiz night? Is it karaoke? Is it bingo? Is it a casino night?
Stay tuned for more details coming soon…

P&C News 12/5/21

Hello Kapinara Community:

Please see below for important updates regarding the upcoming Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser on Saturday 22 May, as well as the School Disco, Choir/Orchestra Uniform/Uniform Shop updates, School Banking and Canteen.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Saturday 22 May – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The P&C is hosting a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser on Saturday 22 May at the Bunnings Innaloo store – but we need your help!  More details and register your interest via https://signup.com/go/eJzokZz

There are many ways to help out from donating sauces/soft drinks to sell (a few slots already booked – thank you!), helping deliver supplies to the stall, or volunteering your time on the stall on the day (help needed!!).  We will be buying the sausages and bread rolls to ensure consistency of product and welcome cash donations to help with these and other related purchases – deposit to the P&C bank account with reference “Bunnings”:
Account name: Kapinara P&C
BSB: 016 305
Account number: 3408 95699

(NB if you volunteer to provide sliced onions, never fear you don’t need to cut them yourself! Yes, it is 4kg per volunteer slot x7 = 28kg in total. But pre-sliced onions can be found in 500g and 1kg bags in the freezer section of most supermarkets. You need to pre-boil/steam these the day day before as they cook faster without burning on the grill during the sausage sizzle. You can even wrap them in foil and bake until soft, just don’t caramelise them otherwise they’ll burn on the grill.)

Last year we had lots of fun and helped raise $1,700 towards the Wobbly playground. This year we will use the money to update the school vegie patch – fingers are crossed for no more snap lockdowns!

School Disco – FRIDAY 21 MAY!!

Don’t forget, the school disco is coming soon – next Friday 21 May. Kindy-Year 2s are from 4:30-6pm and Years 3-6 are 6:30-8pm in the undercover area. Tickets are $15 per child, discounts for 3 tix or more per family apply. If you haven’t already, please return your ticket and food order form with correct change to the front office by this Friday 14 May.

Choir/Orchestra Uniform Try-on Session

To streamline the Choir Uniform Fitting process we are going to hold an afternoon fitting session on Monday 24 May from 3.05pm at the uniform shop. Anyone who would like to try on second hand shoes or needs to exchange sizes please come along to this session too.

New Uniform Shop Items: Raincoats

We are now selling royal blue raincoats/rain jackets in the Uniform Shop, $25 each – each folds away into a pouch for easy storage. The Uniform Shop is open every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:30-9am. Online order forms can be emailed at any time.

School Banking – Every Wednesday morning

School banking is back and running as normal every Wednesday morning from 8:15am outside the Uniform Shop.

Canteen – Thank You to our Volunteers + keep up the great work!

Thank you to all who have volunteered their time in the Canteen so far this term, and also those who have volunteered but needed to call in sick and who have taken the time to find a replacement volunteer – it is very much appreciated and enabled us to run a complete service (including ice creams – always a winner no matter what the weather!)

We have a full set of volunteers for this week (thank you PP1) and Tuesday next week, but still need help on Thursdays in particular moving forward. To view the full roster and sign-up when your class is rostered on – or any time! – please go to https://signup.com/go/itHUFmZ

P&C News – 27/4/21

Good evening: Here are some updates from the P&C in light of the latest Covid updates from the State government.

Canteen

Canteen will open but for Tuesday will operate without volunteers, on a limited menu. Many thanks to our canteen manager Kirsten for making this happen. We’ll advise on canteen status for Thursday once we have more information from school. Orders should be placed via Quickcliq as usual.

Uniform Shop

Families are requested not to come to the uniform shop in person this week. Orders can be placed using the order form on the website at http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/parent-information/dress-code/ Return the form via email to Kapinara.uniform@gmail.com , and items will be sent home with kids by end of week

School Banking

There will be no school banking this week.

School Disco

No decision has yet been made regarding Friday night’s school disco. As soon as we have updates we will share them.
Thanks to everyone for their support, understanding and co-operation as we work within the current round of restrictions.

P&C News Week 6

Happy Sunday night, and welcome to the second half of term 1:

Firstly, huge thanks to everyone who came along to the Sundowner event on Friday night, and an even more massive thanks to the volunteers from across the year groups who gave their time to make sure everything ran smoothly. We hope you all had as much fun as we did 🙂

Election Day Saturday 13 March – P&C Sausage Sizzle, Year 6 Cake Stall Fundraisers

Election Day is this coming Saturday 13 March. If you haven’t voted already, we hope you’ll consider coming to vote at our school, where we’ll have not one by two fundraising activities – a cake stall hosted by the year 6 families to raise funds for various year 6 activities, and a sausage sizzle (including bacon and egg rolls) hosted by the P&C to raise money on behalf of the whole school.

Sausage Sizzle – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

To ensure the sausage sizzle runs smoothly, volunteers are needed to prep, cook and serve on our stall. Additionally we are looking for donations of all the items needed to run the stall – from bottles of tomato sauce, to bacon, sausages, eggs, buns and more.  To sign up as a volunteer, or commit to making a donation of required goods, please see our page on SignUp.com – https://signup.com/login/entry/997035724278538062

P&C Annual General Meeting – Tuesday 9 March at 7pm

The P&C will hold its AGM on Tuesday 9 March at 7pm in the Library. The meeting should run for approximately one hour, and will include elections for all office-bearer positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) as well as nominations for the P&C Executive and each of the committees/services provided by the P&C – Canteen, Uniform Shop, Grounds Committee (playground), Sustainability initiatives (in partnership with the school), school banking, fundraising and more. We would love to welcome new members, especially who may have skills and experience that could help us with our fundraising and community-building goals throughout the year. Should you have any queries about the AGM or the P&C in general, please contact us via this email or call Kate on 0437 005 173.

School Banking Has Resumed (Wednesday)

School banking has resumed, taking place every Wednesday morning from 8:30-8:45am outside the Uniform Shop. Even if you forget your bank book we can look up your registration details to help your child keep banking.  You can find more information about the CBA School Banking Program on our website at http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/parent-information/banking/

Uniform Shop (Tuesday and Thursday)

Normal in-person service has resumed in the Uniform Shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school (8:30-9am). You can still order online by downloading an order form from https://bit.ly/3cRaq1T and email your order to kapinara.uniform@gmail.com Orders will be packed by our volunteers and sent home with students via classroom teachers.

Canteen – WE NEED YOU!

Thanks to those who have already volunteered in the canteen this year, and thanks to all those who have signed up to help in the week their class is rostered on.  We manage our volunteer roster at https://signup.com/go/itHUFmZ Reminders will be issued a week in advance and the night before, and class reps will also ask for your support the two weeks a year your class is rostered to help.

Unfortunately, more volunteers are URGENTLY needed in order for the canteen to operate a full service.  This week is the turn of 5P (4 out of 8 volunteer spots remain unfilled, and there are currently no volunteers for Thursday lunchtime). Next week is 2JJ and only 1 out of 8 volunteer spots have been filled. Without an adequate number of volunteers on each day, the Canteen will need to either close or offer a very limited menu.

IF YOU CAN HELP, please volunteer at any time – it doesn’t need to be your child’s class’s week, and volunteers are NOT limited to parents only – grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbours, all can help.

Canteen volunteers can work either half shifts from 8.45am-10.45am or 10.45-1pm, or a full shift 8.45-1pm. Parents volunteering for a half shift receive a free recess for their child/ren, and those volunteering for a full shift receive a free lunch for their child/ren. Hand washing and following strict hygiene measures are of critical importance for all those who are volunteering.

Term 1 Canteen Volunteer Roster

Week 6 5P – 9/3 & 11/3
Week 7 2JJ – 16/3 & 18/3
Week 8 PP2 – 23/3 & 25/3
Week 9 4BH – 30/3 & 1/4

Term 2 Canteen Volunteer Roster

Week 1 2S – 20/4 & 22/4
Week 2 6D – 27/4 & 29/4
Week 3 3F – 4/5 & 6/5
Week 4 PP1 – 11/5 7 13/5
Week 5 5ZW – 18/5 & 20/5
Week 6 1C – 25/5 & 27/5
Week 7 3H – 1/6 & 3/6

Week 9 3/4 D – 15/6 & 17/6
Week 10 1T – 22/6 & 24/6
Week 11 6L – 29/6 & 1/7

**If you are ill, please do NOT attend your shift. Let the canteen know via email to kapinarafamilies@gmail.com or call the main school number – as much notice as possible is preferred and if you can provide a replacement even better, but providing a safe and hygienic canteen service is our utmost priority. The canteen will adapt to manage this, and can do a reduced menu that day if needed.**

Thank you –

P&C News Week 2

Hello Kapinara Families, old and new, and welcome back (finally!) to the new school year.

On behalf of the P&C we’d like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new families, from those in Kindy all the way through to year 6. We’re looking forward to getting to know as many of you as possible, and hope to meet you in person very soon.

To our returning families, we welcome you back just as warmly. Hopefully the extended school holiday break wasn’t too onerous – relaxing even? And we hope you’ll have the opportunity to admire the now completed Wobbly Playground at the bottom of the Kindy stairs, which was finished over the school holidays thanks to the amazing support you provided throughout 2020.

(For those families who are no longer at Kapinara – thank you for your patience as we finalise the P&C’s 2021 email database. Feel free to send us an email reminder to remove you from this list.)

Kapinara Welcome Sundowner 2021 Event – Friday 5 March

Save the date for the annual Kapinara welcome Sundowner event on FRIDAY 5 MARCH from 5-9pm (pending lockdown advice and Covid-safety requirements). This is a great opportunity for new families to get to know the Kapinara community – BYO, picnic on the oval, and enjoy a great evening out for all ages!  The band has been booked and food options are being finalised – stay tuned for booking information coming soon.

P&C Meetings – Date for Your Diary

The first regular meeting of the P&C for 2021 will take place on TUESDAY 23 FEBRUARY at 7pm, in the staffroom. Any and all members of the Kapinara community are welcome to attend and your support is greatly appreciated – you don’t need to be a member to attend, only to vote, and membership costs just $1 . Participation in the P&C is a great way to learn more about how the school is run, how you can help the P&C support the needs of our kids through fundraising and community-building, to meet other parents and teachers from outside your class group, and more.

The P&C’s Annual General Meeting will take place later in term 1 – stay tuned for more details.

Uniform Shop – Online Ordering This Week

Due to post-lockdown restrictions, the uniform shop will run an online ordering system for this week. We hope to resume normal in-person service from next week onwards as and when restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, you can download an order form from https://bit.ly/3cRaq1T and email your order to kapinara.uniform@gmail.com Orders will be packed by our volunteers and sent home with students via classroom teachers. You can send queries to the same email address if you have any queries, and our uniform shop managers will be happy to help however they can.

Canteen – WE NEED YOU!

The canteen will open from week 3 onwards (commencing Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 February) providing recess and lunch options every Tuesday and Thursday unless otherwise advised. As you may know, our canteen relies on volunteers to provide a cost-effective and healthy service, and without volunteers we’re unable to operate at full capacity. With fewer volunteers, we may need to either reduce menu options, or potentially close on selected days. Mums, dads, aunts/uncles, grandparents or neighbours – anyone over 18. All are welcome and tasks are simple – cutting fruit, prepping toasted sandwiches/wraps/pizza/salads, packing completed orders – your support makes a huge difference!

We have found the most efficient way to manage volunteer requirements is to assign every class in the school the duty of providing the volunteers for each week. Each class will be assigned responsibility for 2x weeks per year, once in terms 1-2, and once more in terms 3-4. We manage our volunteer roster via Signup.com, and the roster for terms 1 and 2 2021 is available now at https://signup.com/go/itHUFmZ Reminders will be issued a week in advance and the night before, and class reps will also ask for support. Ms DeBrass’s class 3/4D is responsible for volunteers to kick off term 1 (week 3 = next week) – huge thanks in advance!

Term 1 Canteen Volunteer Roster

Week 7 2JJ – 16/3 & 18/3

Week 8 PP2 – 23/3 & 25/3

Week 11 6L – 29/6 & 1/7

**If you are ill, please do NOT attend your shift. Let the canteen know via email to kapinarafamilies@gmail.com or call the main school number – as much notice as possible is preferred and if you can provide a replacement even better, but providing a safe and hygienic canteen service is our utmost priority. The canteen will adapt to manage this, and can do a reduced menu that day if needed.**

Any suggestions for food items you’d like to see added to the menu are always welcome – please respond to this email at any time. We strive to provide healthy food options in line with official guidelines, with the occasional treat item for good measure (we all need a little sweetness in our lives!)

School Banking

We’re working with the School to determine when the School Banking program will resume in 2021, hopefully in the next week or so. Stay tuned for further details, or check out information on the website at http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/parent-information/banking/

Parent Reps

Parent representatives are a critical part of helping the P&C communicate across the parent body, which in turn helps the school run smoothly. We’ll be sending a separate email with details about how you might be able to help.

P&C News Week 9

Congrats Kapinara Families – it’s almost the end of another school year ? Thank you for all your support of the P&C and the School in 2020, whether that’s with time, $$ or both, from the uniform shop and canteen to Quiz Night, the EOY concert, Easter Raffle, cake stalls, disco and so much more. Good luck to our year 6 families for whom this is their last year at Kapinara, welcome to all our new families, and see you soon to all the returning families – we wish you all a safe, healthy and happy festive season with family, friends and loved ones.

Uniform Shop

Today (Thursday 10 December) is the last day that the Uniform Shop will be open for 2020, though online orders can still be placed until 8am on Tuesday 15 December to be brought home by students or picked up from the front office before the end of term. The online order form can be downloaded at https://bit.ly/33XtsP1 The Uniform Shop will open again ahead of term 1 on Friday 29 January from 9:30am-11:00am. Email kapinara.uniform@gmail.com with any questions.

Canteen

Tuesday 15 December will be the last day for canteen in 2020. Place your orders as usual via QuickCliq, and remember that any remaining cash balance in your QuickCliq account will carry over to 2021. You may notice that your preferred menu choices aren’t available – that’s because we’re running down our freezer stocks ahead of our end of term deep clean and switching off the freezers for the holidays. Sushi, teriyaki and toasted sandwiches won’t be impacted by this since they are made to order, but in the meantime enjoy the return (while stocks last!) of favourites such as zucchini slice and frozen yoghurt arrows.

Canteen Volunteers

A very huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to all those who have volunteered in the canteen this year. Without you, we quite simply cannot operate, so even one shift spent making toasted sandwiches or chopping fruit and veg for the go green bags means that we’re able to open on our usual Tuesday and Thursday and offer a more complete range of menu items.  More volunteers = more menu choices.

We understand that not everyone is able to volunteer, whether due to work or childcare commitments. To that end, we’ll be sending out a short survey to get community input on what’s most important to you when it comes to canteen – staying open no matter what, a full menu offering, or low prices. Stay tuned!

Sundowner 2021

SAVE THE DATE for our annual Sundowner welcome event to be held early in term 1. Tentative dates are either week 3/Friday 19 or week 4/Friday 26 February – a family event on the oval with food trucks, bbq, live music and more. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details and a confirmed date, coming soon!

Class Reps for 2021

The role of class rep is not only crucial to the operation of the P&C and the support we provide the school, but an amazing way to meet and stay connected with other parents in your class and year group. Sign-up sheets for the role of class admin rep (1x per class) and social co-ordinator (2x per year group) will go up in time for the start of term 1 – please consider volunteering for one of these roles. It’s a minimum time requirement which really does make a huge difference.

P&C Annual General Meeting 2021

Our AGM will take place on Tuesday 23 February (week 4) at 7pm in the School Library – anyone and everyone is welcome to attend! This is the meeting where we nominate and vote for office bearers, executive committee, and other valuable volunteer roles from canteen and uniform shop to playground maintenance, sustainability initiatives, and communications. If you are interested in finding out more, or have skills you think might be helpful (finance, accounting, project management, marketing, teaching, childcare etc etc) please email kapinarafamilies@gmail.com and we will be more than happy to chat with you.

Canteen Reminders

As ever, the Canteen needs your support to provide a full lunch and recess service. For term 4 our volunteer spots are only one quarter filled, meaning that the menu options will be reduced on a daily/as needed basis to match the number of volunteers. The fewer volunteers, the fewer lunch items will be available – worst case scenario we will not be able to operate on certain days. A huge thank you to those who have volunteered already, and the class reps for their ongoing assistance in sending reminders.  Sign up link is: https://signup.com/go/pYeghDL

Here is the roster for the rest of term 4:

Any strings/Orchestra students still needing a performance uniform need to email the uniform shop ASAP on kapinara.uniform@gmail.com
Also if anyone has any choir ties they no longer require please drop to the office or the uniform shop.

Save the Date – End of Year Concert

This year’s end of year concert will take place on Thursday 3 December. We’re working with the school to take a new approach to how the event is held and staged, and will include food trucks, sausage sizzle and BYO picnic. Further details to come!

Orders must be placed by end of day Tuesday 27 October by returning the attached form + correct cash payment to the front office (sorry, no change is available). Food will be available for pick up by referencing your surname between 5:30 and 6:30pm on the grassed area outside the Canteen.

We are also looking for 2x volunteers to help run the sausage sizzle from 5-7pm. If you can help, please email us at kapinarafamilies@gmail.com

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair takes place in the Library Monday-Thursday next week, and volunteers are needed to help make the event a success. Please sign up via the link provided if you can help – timeslots are before and after school each day as well as special extended hours from 5-7pm on Thursday night (Arts Night).

Week 2 (20 and 22 October) – 4P
Week 3 (27 and 29 October) – 1/2T
Week 4 (3 and 5 November) – 3H
Week 5 (10 and 12 November) – 5/6S
Week 6 (17 and 19 November) – 5LJ
Week 7 (24 and 26 November) – 1T
Week 8 (1 and 3 December) – PP2
Week 9 (8 and 10 December) – 4ZW
Week 10 (15 and 17 December) – 2JB

Save the Date – End of Year Concert

This year’s end of year concert will take place on Thursday 3 December. We’re working with the school to take a new approach to how the event is held and staged, and will include food trucks, sausage sizzle and BYO picnic. Further details to come!
