Also available to buy on the night.

We are also looking for 2x volunteers to help run the sausage sizzle from 5-7pm. If you can help, please respond to this email.

Canteen Reminders

As ever, the Canteen needs your support to provide a full lunch and recess service. For term 4 our volunteer spots are only one quarter filled, meaning that the menu options will be reduced on a daily/as needed basis to match the number of volunteers. The fewer volunteers, the fewer lunch items will be available – worst case scenario we will not be able to operate on certain days. A huge thank you to those who have volunteered already, and the class reps for their ongoing assistance in sending reminders.  Sign up link is: https://signup.com/go/pYeghDL

P&C Newsletter Week 2

Hello Kapinara Families,
With restrictions easing this term we plan on resuming cake stalls later in the term, just need to remember to keep up the good work with hand hygiene and social distancing.
Our next P&C meeting is Tuesday 4 August. Participants are now able to attend in person, with the meeting being held in the staff room starting at 7pm.

Picture Plates/Water Bottle Fundraiser
Thanks to everyone who took part in this fundraiser. Ordering is now complete and finished products are expected to be received back from the manufacturer and sent home by the end of this term.

Entertainment Books
Entertainment Book memberships for 2020-21 are now available for purchase in digital format via https://www.entertainment.com.au/orderbooks/8o3491 – memberships are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, making this a more flexible way to save than ever before. This is a significant source of funds for the P&C and the school, and we are grateful to you for choosing to purchase yours through Kapinara. If you are new to the Entertainment Book or new to the digital version and prefer to try before you buy, trial options will be available later this year – stay tuned for more details. Please email kapinarafamilies@gmail.com with questions.

Basketball
Please see the attached flyer for the Redhage Basketball program running after school on Fridays at Kapinara in term 3 (starts this week on Friday 31 July).  The Redhage team is looking forward to returning to coach the Kapinara kids!

Redhage Basketball

School Banking
School banking has recommenced on Wednesday mornings in the stairwell outside the uniform shop before school.

Due to the pause of the school banking program in term 1 and term 2, Commonwealth Bank has acknowledged that students were unable to make deposits in the usual way and therefore missed out on receiving tokens for their deposits.  CBA have decided to give active School Banking students an ex-gratia reward item. This means that any bankers who completed at least one deposit in term 1 will be eligible to receive a reward item without needing 10 tokens.  To collect your reward please attend the school banking on Wednesday mornings and speak to Thanh.

Uniform Shop
The uniform shop is now open to parents on Thursday mornings from 8.30-9am for those who would like to attend onsite. The uniform shop continues to encourage online ordering, forms can be found on the school website and should be emailed to kapinara.uniform@gmail.com.

The P&C is still looking for a volunteer to take over running of the uniform shop by the start of 2021. Hours and days are very flexible, making this a great role for someone looking to work around childcare or other commitments. If you are interested please email Nikki at kapinara.uniform@gmail.com

Canteen
Canteen is welcoming back volunteers in term 3. Based on feedback in term 2, we have made some updates to our menu to ease the burden on volunteers while working to provide increased choice. Menu changes include more fresh salad and sandwich options, more in-house (not processed) hot meal options, and potential theme days. Hot drinks are offered in winter (terms 2-3) and icecreams and icy poles will be included on the summer menu.

Pikelets have not yet been added back to the menu – pikelet making is very labour intensive and requires a volunteer for a whole shift to make them. Fruit options have been very popular which is great to see. Ideas for menu items to add are always welcome. The new menu is attached.
Volunteers are asked to register via SignUp by clicking on the link   https://signup.com/go/mNmimWB

Canteen shifts are either half shifts from 8.45am-10.45am or 10.45-1pm, or a full shift 8.45-1pm. Parents volunteering for a half shift receive a free recess for their child, and those volunteering for a full shift receive a free lunch for their child. Hand washing and following strict hygiene measures are of critical importance for all those who are volunteering – canteen manager Kirsten has completed Covid-safe food service training and is well placed to provide guidance.
**It is really important that volunteers let the canteen manager know if they are sick. They should NOT attend if they are unwell or feel that they are coming down with something. The canteen will adapt to manage this, and can do a reduced menu that day if needed.**

P&C News Week 8

New P&C Treasurer Needed

Sadly for us, Kapinara’s current P&C Treasurer Anna Larson is moving interstate in term 3, which means that we are looking for a new Treasurer to manage the P&C’s finances and operations.  The role of the Treasurer is as follows:

  • Prepare and present a written report for every P&C meeting (2x Tuesday nights per term), including an up-to-date bank account reconciliation and a statement of receipts and payments;
  • Manage all the P&C’s accounts including Canteen, Uniform Shop and all fundraising, as well as contributions to the School;
  • Complete tax and superannuation related documents;
  • Prepare the P&C’s accounts for audit (annual/bi-annual);
  • While not essential, experience as an accountant is preferred along with recent experience of Xero and other cloud-based accounting software, as well as an understanding of non-for-profit reporting requirements.

If you or someone you know would be interested in taking on this role and contributing to the vital operation of our P&C, please contact Kate Rowlands Marquis at ksrowlands@hotmail.com / 0437 005 173.

Last but certainly not least, a HUGE thank you to Anna for all her hard work and support for the P&C over the last 3 years – you will be missed!

Uniform Shop Help Needed

We are seeking a Uniform Shop co-ordinator to assist with and eventually take over running of our Uniform Shop. This is an important volunteer role which is well supported by the P&C and other volunteers, and is flexible in terms of days required for those with younger children in kindy or day care. If you are interested in finding out more, please reply to this email.

Canteen: New Menu Items

Have you seen the new items that have been added to our Canteen menu? Watermelon cups (recess/lunch) and Penne Napoletana (tomato-based lunchtime pasta) are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while mini pizzas are now available on Tuesdays (recess only). Order now via QuickCliq.

Netball
The Perth Netball Association’s Winter Netball season is due to start on 18 July, with games running until late September at Matthews Netball Centre. We’re currently looking for players to join a year 2/3 Kapinara team, who will play on Wednesdays at 4.15pm. If students from other year levels are interested, please email Nikki ASAP for team availability at kapinara.netball@gmail.com

Lost Property

We’ve got a large number of items currently sitting in our Lost Property area. Teachers are doing their best to match any items with name tags to children, but without a name tag they can’t help. Don’t forget to have your child look through lost property if they are missing something!

P&C News – Week 4

Hello Kapinara families,

Welcome back to Term 2 – hopefully everyone is staying warm and keeping healthy. The P&C continues to work to support the school as we all adjust to the new normal. While some activities are on hold, we continue to operate the Canteen and Uniform Shop and are working hard to plan (and adapt) events and fundraisers for later in the year. We continue to meet virtually twice a term – join us for the next meeting on Tuesday 2 June at 7pm via Zoom (further details to come).

Canteen
The canteen continues to provide recess and lunch service on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Due to COVID-19 health measures, we’re unable to have volunteers help with food prep, which means that we’re operating with with a reduced menu. However, our amazing Canteen Manager Kirsten has extended the menu to reintroduce Toasties, Pasta cups and Fruit cups. Also Kirstin has indicated that she can potentially add a couple more items back onto the menu – let us know what your family would like to see added back in, either by emailing kapinarafamilies@gmail.com or commenting on our Facebook page.

Uniform Shop
The P&C-run Uniform Shop is also operating full steam ahead, but via online orders only until further notice. We have fresh stock of winter uniform items as well as polo shirts, hats, shorts and skirts which are available year round. Order forms can be downloaded from the P&C page on the school website http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/parent-information/dress-code/ and should be EMAILED to kapinara.uniform@gmail.com. Orders will be filled on Tuesdays and Thursdays and given to students via teachers to take home directly.

Also the Choir is short of Ties, if you have any spare at home could you please send with your child to be dropped at the office.

Entertainment Book
The Entertainment Book will be back again for 2020, but this time they’re going 100% digital!  Further details will be available later this term. With cake stalls and other in-person fundraising activity on hold until school restrictions are eased, the Entertainment Book will be one of our main sources of revenue this year. Please consider purchasing yours through the P&C to help us help the school make final updates to the new Wobbly Playground, and continue to support the school through the purchase of books, STEM materials and more.

P&C Canteen News

Please be advised that due to very low student numbers this week, the canteen will be closed for the remainder of Term 1. Stay safe and take care,

Canteen changes

After discussion with the school, the P&C have decided to commence a reduced canteen service commencing from tomorrow.
The aim is to reduce the numbers of adults on the school site, while supporting families by having recess and lunch options available for students.
There will be no volunteers working at canteen from tomorrow, which we will review next term. A huge thank you to all those volunteers who did sign up and we will call on you again for help at a future time.

The menu will have:
Recess– options of apple slinkys, apple berry muffins, chocolate muffins, drinks, fruit straps and vege chips
Lunch: Option of macaroni cheese, fried rice (with chicken, egg and veges), sausage rolls, meat pies, party pies plus all sushi. Lunch snack of quelch icy poles only.

For tomorrow only, there will be pizzas available at lunch in a limited number to use up perishable ingredients.

Thank you for your understanding and support,

P&C News Week 4

Sundowner

The Annual Kapinara Sundowner held on Friday was again great success (despite the threat of rain) and a fun night was had by all. A huge thanks to those kind parents who volunteered on the night to assist with the sausage sizzle and selling glow products; we could not have done it without you.

Photo Day

School photos are currently underway today and tomorrow. It’s not too late to order individual and class photos (the deadline for sibling photos has passed); however the school code included in the School newsletter was incorrect. The correct code to use is 4CDWQV. Order and pay online at www.kapture.com.au

Parent Reps Urgently Required: 5LJ and 5/6S

We are still searching for parents to serve as Class Admin Reps for 5LJ and 5/6S. While not too time-intensive over the course of the year, this is is a very important role which enables the P&C  to communicate with your class regarding the canteen roster and changes to canteen opening times, uniform shop, cake stalls, Sundowner/Quiz Night and other fundraising events as well as supporting the teacher in communicating updates and reminders to parents. If you are able to volunteer for either class please reply to this email.

Canteen News – HELP NEEDED

Help is required urgently in the Canteen for next week as Class 1/2TB are yet to provide volunteers for Tuesday 3 March. If no volunteers are found the canteen will not open that day. If you can assist please sign up at https://signup.com/go/rwQeVkc

Year 6 Cake Stall

Our first cake stall fundraiser of the year will be run by year 6 parents on Friday 6 March at 3pm in the main quadrangle. Please bring your coins and small notes to help the P&C continue to support the school and our children.

P&C AGM

The P&C AGM was held last Tuesday and saw the end of an era with long serving President Nic Schmidt and Vice President Naomi Taylor stepping down. We thank them so much for their incredible contributions to the P&C and the Kapinara Primary School community. Elections were held on the night and the following members were elected uncontested:

  • President – Kate Marquis
  • Vice-President – Kym Szwedzicki
  • Treasurer – Anna Larson
  • Secretary – Natasha Brindal and Rebecca Garvey

Kapinara Winter netball 2020

Final calls for girls and boys interested in playing Friday afternoon/evening netball. Teams need to be finalised by March 3rd, so numbers need to be in to determine teams. We play under the Kapinara name but are parent lead and run.

We would be keen to get another 4 students in yr 2, to create 2 full teams with subs.

We have a full yr 5 team but depending on interest we could create another team if numbers exist.

Please forwards interest or questions to

Nikki Little
