MINI KNIGHTS is NKHC introductory program for new Hin2H participants to develop and learn the fundamentals of hockey within a safe environment. All welcome.
The 6-week program will be for boys and girls from Pre-primary to Year 4 in 2019.
When: Monday, 20th May – Monday, 1st July, 2019
Time: 3:30pm – 4:30pm Where: Newman College Oval, Tuscany Way, Churchlands
Registration fee includes an equipment pack for first time participants containing an Atlas hockey stick, Atlas backpack, shin pads and ball should you require them.

Scribblers Festival 2019 –  Family Weekend, The Goods Shed, Claremont, May 11 & 12

This term our school will be taking some lucky students on excursion to the Scribblers Festival of Literature and Arts.
They will enjoy fun, author events to spark imaginations, encourage a joy of reading and promote creative learning.
Alongside the schools program, is a full festival of free author events, creative craft, art installations, food stalls and more, taking place in Claremont on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 May.
Meet well-loved authors and household names, such as Alison Lester, Jacqueline Harvey, Matt Stanton, Eddie Woo and Dr Karl. Discover new favourites and international authors including Megan McDonald (Judy Moody) from the United States and Philip Ardagh (The Grunts) from the UK.
Be inspired by the incredible, crocheted coral reef of Indonesian artist Mulyana, enjoy some creative fun at our craft stations, meet a magical unicorn, visit a book doctor for reading recommendations and delight in the magic of storytelling. A great day out for the whole family.

Curtin University Mathematics Enrichment Classes

Come on down and give UWA Junior Rugby a go.
Pre-season training starts Thursday 14th March, 5-6pm, at McGillivray Oval behind HBF Stadium Mt Claremont for age groups from U6-U14.
U6 and U7 play a two-handed touch style of rugby focused on developing an understanding of the game, fun and team play and is open to boys and girls. Older age groups play under variably modified rules up to u19’s, designed for safety and enjoyment whilst allowing players to develop an understanding of the game.Not sure if it’s your thing? Registrations for Hale Hockey Club are now open. During the winter sport season (April to September), Hale Hockey Club teams compete in the Hockey WA competitions across all age groups. Hale caters for all junior players from Minkey (4 years old) onwards. Our aim is to provide opportunities for all junior players to achieve their goals, whether it is to play sport, keep fit and have fun, or follow a pathway to the elite levels of hockey.

Hockey Season

Calling all year 1,2,3,4s that are interested in playing in a hockey team with other Kapinara children. The teams play Saturday morning at Perry Lakes during Terms 2 and 3. This is a local competition run by YMCC Hockey Club. Training will be after school on the oval (likely either Tues or Wed). If your child is keen (it doesn’t matter if they haven’t played before) please email Tara: t_hummelshoj@hotmail.com before the 15th March to allow time for sorting numbers/teams please.

Learn to Swim at UWA
Term 1 Program: Mon 4 February–Sat 13 April
The UWA Aquatic Centre is one of the best learn-to-swim environments with families being able to enjoy an enclosed 25 metre pool and warm 30-degree water temperature all year round.
The UWA Learn to Swim program offers lessons for children of all levels, from three years old upwards. Initial emphasis is placed on developing confidence and effective movement in the water, later progressing to the swimming essentials of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and dive starts.

Balcatta SHS is running a FREE art taster for Year 5 students.  This is an opportunity for students who are interested in The Arts to experience a diverse day program of art making at the Balcatta SHS Art Gallery.

Students will be working with our specialist art tutors who are all practising artists.

Our Gifted and Talented Visual Art students will be present and their artwork from the annual art exhibition will be on show.
